Discover Lyman: Lyman Lake, Rail Trail, and Parks
Accommodation in Lyman
Lyman offers several distinct highlights for a stay: Lyman Lake, a reservoir; a rail trail on a former railroad right-of-way; municipal parks; and event venues.
Lyman Lake and River Place Park
Lyman Lake is a 350-acre reservoir on the Middle Tyger River. The lake has a public fishing pier and an accessible boat ramp with two access points. The fishing pier makes fishing at the lake a practical option; the ramp adds a boating option. These facilities offer different ways to enjoy Lyman Lake as you plan your trip.
River Place Park is next to the Middle Tyger Library at 170 Groce Road. A pedestrian bridge in the park offers views of the Tyger River. Which of these waterfront spots you choose depends on whether the fishing pier and boat ramp or the river views from the bridge are more important to you.
The Lyman Rail Trail
The Lyman Rail Trail follows the right-of-way of the former Old Springs/Pacific mill railroad tracks, connecting it with Lyman’s history as a mill town. The trail stretches for half a mile between Lawrence Street and Old Spartanburg Highway. It is used by walkers, joggers, and cyclists for recreation, and offers a clearly defined option for a shorter period of activity during your stay.
A possible extension could change the trail’s length. Check the current route if the stated half-mile distance is important to your plans. This will help you assess the route without assuming a walking or cycling time.
Playground and Dog Park
The Park of Lyman is a playground. The Bark Park is a dog park located behind the Lyman Event Center at Pacific Place. A walkway connects the Bark Park with the Park of Lyman Playground. This connection between the two locations is a useful point of reference if you’re planning a visit to the dog park or playground.
Event Venues and Dates
The Lyman Amphitheater is directly behind Town Hall on Community Street. The Historic Library Building can be rented for parties, celebrations, and other smaller events. If a celebration is part of your reason for traveling, ask about rental availability for your specific date.
The 2026 schedule listed the Summer Movie Nights as free family events. They were scheduled for June 4, June 18, and July 2, 9, and 30. These dates are for summer 2026; if you’re visiting later, check the relevant event dates before planning your trip around a movie night.
This makes it easy to tailor your search to the interests that actually matter for your stay.
