Discover Branchport: Nature, Wine and Hotels
Accommodation in Branchport
Branchport connects Keuka Lake with public lake access, paddling opportunities, a wetland with maintained trails, as well as wine tastings and a market for organic products. The destinations offer different focal points for your stay: activities on the water, trails through a natural landscape, or visits centered on wine and market produce.
Keuka Lake: Access and Paddling
The Saunders Finger Lakes Museum offers public access to Keuka Lake via Sugar Creek. From there, you can paddle through a wooded creek and wetlands to the lake’s open waters. Public access via Sugar Creek and the opportunity to paddle to the open lake are two different ways to connect the museum with the water. There is also an ADA-accessible water platform at the museum, available to the public free of charge from sunrise to sunset. This time window applies to the platform; check again before traveling to confirm that public access is available.
Wetland and Trails
The Townsend-Grady Wildlife Preserve is a 16-hectare wetland next to Crescent Beach at the northern end of Keuka Lake’s western arm. Sugar Creek is a navigable inlet to the lake there; the preserve lies on its banks. Visitors can walk along maintained trails to an octagonal pavilion. The pavilion provides a specific destination for this walk, while the creek and lake define the wetland’s connection to the water.
When choosing between the nature activities, the main consideration is how you want to get around. At the museum, a paddling route leads through a creek and wetlands into the lake’s open waters; at the preserve, visitors can walk along maintained trails to the pavilion. This offers two distinct experiences: a water route and a trail leading to a fixed destination.
Market and Wine Tastings
Wine and shopping also offer their own reasons to visit Branchport. The Keuka Trail Farm Market sells organic products, including bee products, coffee, spices, essential oils and herbal tinctures. Stever Hill Vineyards offers wine tastings at a family-run business in its fifth generation. At the market, the focus is on shopping for a range of organic products; at the winery, it is on tasting. As the winery’s visitor operations may change, check before visiting whether wine tastings are available.
Find a Hotel in Branchport
Consider whether activities on the water, a trail through the wetland, or wine tasting and a visit to the market matter most to you. This will help you determine the focus of your trip before searching for a specific hotel offer. Then check the location, amenities, price and availability details for each offer and compare them with your requirements.
