Olcott offers several ways to plan a stay: classic attractions, parks, local history, a marina, and events. If you’re looking for a hotel in Olcott, considering these different themes can help you choose a destination. Think about whether you’re most interested in historical attractions, the park, the marina, or an event date.

Parks and classic attractions

Olcott Beach Carousel Park features a beautifully restored 1928 Herschell-Spillman carousel and other classic attractions. The carousel gives the park a specific historical point of interest. Visitors interested in classic attractions will find a different focus here than at Krull Park.

Krull Park covers more than 325 acres and is used year-round. Its listed amenities include a splash pad. The two park experiences in Olcott can be distinguished this way: Carousel Park focuses on the restored carousel and other classic attractions, while Krull Park offers a large area and a splash pad. The figure of more than 325 acres conveys the park’s size; its year-round use describes another aspect of how it is used.

A replica with local history

Ye Olde Log Cabin is a replica built by the Town of Newfane of the original log cabin erected in 1888 in TenBrooks Grove. TenBrooks Grove is now known as Krull Park. The replica thus refers to a specific local history and the original building, but is not itself the cabin built in 1888.

Ye Olde Log Cabin serves as a free historical museum. Its collections include original relics and numerous other historical objects from Olcott Beach and from pioneers. Together with the story of the log cabin, these collections offer a specific glimpse into the area’s historical connections: the story of a building and the items brought together in the museum.

Marina and connection to the water

The Town of Newfane Marina is in the hamlet of Olcott Beach, at the mouth of 18-Mile Creek. The creek flows into Lake Ontario. The marina welcomes jet skis, as well as kayaks and canoes, and has more than 70 slips. The harbor is designated as a deep-water harbor and a safe harbor. Both its location on the creek and its designated harbor functions are therefore part of Olcott’s connection to the water.

Events and local shops

The Olcott Beach Jazz Trail is an annual, free event. Performances take place at various locations within walking distance around Olcott. Check dates and the program for your travel period if the event is important to your plans. The Lake Ontario Trout and Salmon Association’s 23rd annual King Salmon Tournament was also scheduled to take place in Olcott on July 25, 2026, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event details differ considerably: Jazz Trail performances take place at various locations, while the tournament has a specific date and time window.

Lakeview Village Shoppes consists of individual, independently run small shops owned by local artisans and merchants. They are located in Olcott on the south shore of Lake Ontario. The focus here is on small local shops and their independent operation—a different focus from parks, museums, or the marina.
