When looking for a hotel in Endicott, you can tailor your stay to your interests: the history of local institutions, Italian American heritage, carousels, outdoor spaces, or cultural and sporting activities.

History at Two Institutions

The Endicott Visitor Center houses a history museum. Its exhibits include the origins of Harpur College, the management of the Endicott Johnson Shoe Company and IBM, and IBM’s strong influence on Endicott’s development. The exhibits thus bring together educational and corporate history.

The Endicott History and Heritage Center features extensive exhibits on the history of Endicott Johnson and IBM; the entire ground floor is devoted to IBM history. It is located at 40 Washington Avenue in downtown Endicott. The focus therefore differs: the Visitor Center brings together college and corporate history, while the Heritage Center devotes its entire ground floor to IBM.

Italian American Heritage

The Little Italy Endicott Heritage Center documents, preserves, and presents Endicott’s Italian American history. The origins of the Italian-influenced community include an event in 1913: a company purchased land and lifted restrictions, allowing the community to form. This sequence makes the connection between the land purchase, the lifted restrictions, and the formation of the community tangible.

Carousels and Parks

The carousel at George W. Johnson Park was installed in 1934 and historically restored in 1994. In its original carousel pavilion, it has 36 horses and two chariots. The carousel at West Endicott Park was installed in 1929—five years earlier—and has 36 animals. The details thus differ both in the year of installation and in the features described: horses and chariots at George W. Johnson Park, and animals at West Endicott.

George W. Johnson Park also has swimming pools, a bathhouse, a picnic shelter, a stage, and a playground.

Views and a Riverside Trail

A picnic area high above Endicott offers spectacular views east and west across the Susquehanna River Valley. The paved trail offers a different experience: it begins beneath the McKinley Avenue bridge on the Susquehanna River, follows the floodwall 0.7 miles west, and reaches the levee at Bridge Street.

Theater, Golf, and Local Products

Cider Mill Playhouse offers performances year-round. En-Joie has hosted the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open, a PGA Tour Champions tournament, since July 2007. If you choose the tournament as a reason for your trip, check the event dates in advance.

Cider Mill’s offerings include doughnuts, candy apples, pies, cookies, jams, jellies, and cheese. Product availability may vary.
