Parks with different features

Mildred C. Kelly Park has military-themed playground features and a walking path. These features appeal to different interests: the playground design adds a distinctive touch, while the path offers an option for a stroll. You can consider them separately rather than reducing the park to just one type of recreation.

Flying Point Park is a waterfront park with a boat ramp. In contrast to the playground features and walking path at Mildred C. Kelly Park, the focus here is on the water and the boat ramp. This makes it easy to distinguish the two parks according to the features you want to include in your plans.

Market, getting there and public art

The Edgewood farmers market takes place on the first Sunday of every month from April through November. This recurring date can help when planning your travel dates. As seasonal dates and opening hours may vary, check the current schedule before your visit.

Harford County Transit routes 2 and 7 serve Edgewood MARC Station. If you plan to use this station for your arrival, check the current routes for both lines before traveling, as transit routes can change.

The “Diversity is Beautiful” mural was designed and painted by students at Edgewood High School and created as a gift to the community. Its creation connects the title with student authorship and a gift to the community.

The wider Harford destination

In the wider Harford destination, Susquehanna State Park offers a landscape in the Susquehanna River valley with dense forest cover and rocky terrain. Rocks State Park in northern Harford County encompasses 855 acres of rocky woodland and 3.5 miles of hiking trails. Tubing is possible on Deer Creek in Rocks State Park; Kilgore Falls is among the park’s main attractions and is considered the waterfall with the second-highest vertical drop in Maryland. At King and Queen Seat, climbing routes range from 8 to 115 feet and span grades from 4 to 5.12. Professional training is recommended for beginners before climbing.

The area’s heritage also offers different points of interest. Rock Run Historic Area includes a working grist mill; the restored area also includes Carter-Archer Mansion and Jersey Toll House. Historic Jerusalem Mill Village is a nearly completely preserved mill village dating from the 1770s, with buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Colonial cooking demonstrations are held there; the program may vary, so check the current schedule before your trip. Concord Point Lighthouse was built in 1827 and is the second-oldest lighthouse in Maryland. It offers sweeping views of the mouth of the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay.
