In Bensenville, recreational activities range from swimming and golf to ice sports, farm programs and movies. When planning your stay, you can start by choosing a focus: sports, agriculture and family history, or film and community events.

Sports at the Redmond Recreational Complex

The Redmond Recreational Complex covers 88 acres and offers indoor and outdoor sports. These include baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, figure skating and ice hockey. The complex also has three indoor ice rinks, an inline skating track, a skateboard park, the Outer Edge ropes course and a climbing wall. The options range from ball and ice sports to skating and climbing.

Another option at the complex is a 1.1-mile path along the Redmond Reservoir. It is suitable for jogging, cycling and walking. In addition to the named sports, you can also choose activities along a path of a specified length. The information about the sports and the path gives you different points of reference as you consider what kind of exercise you want to shape your stay around.

Swimming and Golf

Water’s Edge Aquatic Center has a 25-yard swimming pool with eight lanes. It also has a 13-foot-deep diving pool and a 1-meter diving board. The center also offers family swim. Since swim times may vary, check the schedule if you plan to include this activity.

For golf, there is White Pines Golf Club, a facility of the Bensenville Park District. It has two 18-hole championship courses across more than 260 acres. This is a distinct option alongside the many sports at the Redmond Recreational Complex: here, the focus is on golf across two designated courses.

Fischer Farm: Tours, Farm Day and CSA

At Fischer Farm, the offerings vary by topic and audience. Bookable tours explore the family that has had a lasting impact on Bensenville. School groups can take part in a Farm Day, where participants meet the animals and visit the gardens. The tours offer a look at the family’s history, while Farm Day for school groups includes animals and gardens.

Another format is the CSA. Community members can purchase a share to receive freshly harvested produce weekly or every other week. The harvest season begins in mid-June and runs through October. This makes the offering seasonal, unlike the bookable tours and the Farm Day intended for school groups. Those interested in Bensenville’s agricultural side can consider these three formats according to their respective focus: family history, a visit with the animals and gardens, or seasonal produce.

Film and Events at the Bensenville Center Theatre

The Bensenville Center Theatre is operated by the Village of Bensenville and offers the public current first-run movies and classics. Its offerings also include community events, and private rentals are available as well. Movies and events are therefore held in a municipally operated theater that, in addition to its regular public offerings, can also be rented for private use. If you would rather focus your stay on culture than sports, films and community events are other specific themes to guide your plans.
