Discover Palm Beach: Coast and Culture
Accommodation in Palm Beach
Palm Beach is located on a narrow barrier island in the Atlantic Ocean. The destination combines coastal scenery with historic sites, a trail and golf. If you’re looking for a hotel in Palm Beach, you can shape your travel plans around these different highlights and decide which aspects of the destination matter to you.
Coastline and Public Beaches
The coastline within the town limits stretches for more than 12 miles. Mid-Town Municipal Beach is one of the Town of Palm Beach’s two public beaches. Lifeguards are on duty at the public beaches seven days a week, year-round. The Ocean Rescue unit provides public safety and emergency medical services at both of the Town’s public beaches.
Lake Trail and Exercise
Lake Trail is almost six miles long and is used by cyclists, joggers and walkers. Electric bicycles, motorized skateboards and other motorized vehicles are not permitted on the trail. Paid public parking is available along South Lake Drive at the southern end. If you’d like to include Lake Trail in your plans, you can take this rule and the parking option into account together.
To choose between the beach and the route, consider the specific difference: the beaches are characterized by lifeguards and Ocean Rescue services, while the trail is defined by its length, its users and a rule prohibiting motorized vehicles.
Culture, History and Gardens
At the Flagler Museum, the visitor experience includes the first and second floors of Whitehall, the grounds and the Flagler Kenan Pavilion. Sea Gull Cottage is the oldest house in Palm Beach. Pan’s Garden is Florida’s first botanical garden composed entirely of native plants. Earl E.T. Smith Preservation Park is a public space just west of Town Hall, in the Town Hall Historic District. Royal Poinciana Chapel opened in 1897.
These places offer different cultural highlights: the museum describes a visitor experience spanning several areas, the garden its botanical character, the park its precise location in the Historic District and the chapel the year it opened. This lets you distinguish between a museum experience, a garden, house history and a public space in the historic district.
Worth Avenue and Golf
Worth Avenue is a prominent destination with a range of luxury shops. There is also outdoor dining. So, in addition to shopping, the avenue offers a dining experience.
Palm Beach Par 3 Golf Course is located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway and has 18 holes. For practice, the course offers a full-length driving range, a putting green and a practice bunker. Unlike the other destinations mentioned, the golf area includes not only the course but also three specifically named practice facilities. Worth Avenue and golf therefore appeal to different interests: shopping and outdoor dining on one hand, golf and practice facilities on the other.
