Loxahatchee Groves can be understood through its location in Palm Beach County, Loxahatchee Groves Park and the seasonal Swank Farmers Market. The history of the canals and roads that contributed to the community’s development is another part of the picture. This gives you different points of reference for planning your trip: geographic orientation, a park with several clearly named amenities, and a seasonal market with its own setting and food selection.

Location and boundaries

Loxahatchee Groves covers 12.5 square miles (7,945 acres) and is located in Palm Beach County near Royal Palm Beach, about 15 miles west of I-95 and north of Southern Boulevard (US-441/SR-80). The town borders Royal Palm Beach to the east, Wellington to the south, and The Acreage to the west and north. Royal Palm Beach therefore serves two different roles as a reference point: it is both a nearby landmark and the eastern neighbor. Wellington and The Acreage identify the other sides of the boundary. Together, the county, road reference and neighboring communities provide a precise picture of the town’s location.

Park amenities and group picnics

Loxahatchee Groves Park is located at 13901 Southern Boulevard, Loxahatchee Groves, Florida 33470. The activity and distance differ between the two exercise options: the park has a scenic one-mile riding trail and a fitness trail with ten stations over 0.47 miles. This makes it easy to distinguish the two options by type and length. There are also Pine and Palomino picnic pavilions, which can be reserved for groups. A reservable picnic spot thus complements the two different exercise options. If you include the park in your travel plans, you can choose between the riding trail, fitness trail and a group picnic.

Swank Farmers Market

The Swank Farmers Market takes place on the farm in Loxahatchee Groves in a covered, open-sided barn. The market features products from more than 25 bakers, growers, gardeners and other farm-market vendors. At Swank Farm, visitors can get coffee, Danish pastries and breakfast sandwiches; the food and vendor offerings may change. According to the operator, the market is held weekly on Saturdays from October through May. If you’re planning a visit during the current season, check the dates. The seasonal date range is another planning consideration alongside the selection of stalls and food.

Canals, roads and local history

The community’s origins include parallel canals and roads. Southern States built nearly 30 miles of them; the Loxahatchee Groves Drainage District was responsible for maintaining them. This district was a predecessor of the Loxahatchee Groves Water Control District. The combined development of roads and canals connects the town’s growth with its drainage infrastructure; maintenance was assigned to the district. This history of infrastructure complements the geographic overview and the specific destinations of the park and market, offering another perspective on Loxahatchee Groves.
