Homestead offers different points of interest for planning a trip: historic attractions, a tropical botanical garden, cultural offerings and guided experiences. If you’re looking for hotels in Homestead, you can start by considering which themes matter most for your days there. Options range from a self-guided historic tour to a garden walk and activities with set durations.

Historic Places in Homestead

Coral Castle is a megalithic attraction in Homestead. Edward Leedskalnin built the structure, formerly called Rock Gate, over three decades using more than 1,100 tons of coral rock and primitive tools. It demonstrates its creator’s ingenuity and craftsmanship. Tours are offered on the hour. Since visitor information can change, it’s a good idea to check the latest details before your visit.

Another way to explore local history is at the Historic Homestead Town Hall Museum. It is located in Homestead’s original 1917 town hall. Exhibits include historical artifacts and copies of photographs about the people, families, buildings and events that have shaped Homestead’s history. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.; admission is free. Since opening hours can change, it’s best to check them before making plans.

The “Homestead Then & Now” tour takes visitors through the Historic Downtown Homestead District and to other designated historic buildings. Most of it can be done on foot or by taking the free Homestead Trolley. The “Homestead Then & Now” brochure includes a map for a self-guided tour of historic properties and areas of Homestead. All properties designated on the tour map have been classified as historic by the Homestead Historic Preservation Board. This makes it possible to distinguish between a guided introduction through the tour and independent exploration using the map.

Garden Visits and Nature Experiences

The Fruit & Spice Park is a tropical botanical garden with more than 500 varieties of fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, nuts and other plant collections. As you walk through the grounds, you can explore the different areas by taste. Guided tours help visitors identify ripe, edible and flavorful fruits, as well as other plants. The park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Since opening hours can change, check them before your visit.

For a different kind of nature experience, Everglades Alligator Farm offers airboat rides into the Everglades, each lasting 20 to 25 minutes. At the feeding show, visitors can watch more than 300 alligators fight over their food. At the end of a show, visitors can hold a baby alligator for a photo. Since show availability can change, it’s a good idea to check the latest visitor information before your visit.

During the 2025–2026 operating season, the Homestead National Parks Trolley offered free guided service from Downtown Homestead to Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park. Because capacity was limited, reservations were strongly recommended. If you’re planning a later season, check the dates and service availability before your trip.

Culture and Practical Planning

The Seminole Theatre is Homestead’s leading performing arts venue. Along with the historic attractions, garden and tours, it shows that trip planning doesn’t have to focus on just one kind of visit. When choosing a hotel, it can therefore be helpful to first decide whether history, plant diversity, a tour or the performing arts should shape your stay. You can then check opening hours, seasonal dates and changing visitor offerings to suit your planned travel dates.
