Discover Spring Hill: Water, Nature and the Market
Accommodation in Spring Hill
Water, river scenery, trails, gardens and a market cater to different interests. Planning considerations also vary: Buccaneer Bay operates seasonally, trail and swimming-area conditions can change, and the market’s schedule, number of vendors and selection vary. Keep these differences in mind when choosing the dates for your stay.
Water: Springs and the Gulf Coast
Buccaneer Bay is located within Weeki Wachee Springs State Park and has two water slides that lead into the natural Weeki Wachee Springs. The combination of a water park and a spring defines this attraction; it operates seasonally. Plan your visit during the seasonal operating period and check visiting days in advance.
Alfred McKethan Pine Island Park covers three acres and is located on the Gulf of America. The park includes a beach and a swimming area. The two water experiences are distinctly different: Buccaneer Bay centers on slides at a natural spring, while Alfred McKethan Pine Island Park features the Gulf Coast, with a beach and swimming. Swimming conditions can change; check them before visiting.
Riverfront, trails and paddling route
Weekiwachee Preserve has several miles of frontage along the Weeki Wachee River and is best known for its population of Florida black bears. Its trail system includes around 5.5 miles of paved and unpaved trails. The riverfront and the different trail surfaces are useful points of reference when planning a visit. Trail conditions can change; check them before you go.
The Bayport-Linda Pedersen Paddling Trail is a marked route connecting Bayport Park and Linda Pedersen Park. Here, the connection between two named parks is the defining feature, while the preserve is distinguished by its riverfront, wildlife and trails. If you plan to paddle the route, keep in mind that conditions can change.
Garden areas and market offerings
Nature Coast Botanical Gardens is a 4.5-acre garden habitat with 22 themed areas. Its size and thematic layout are two defining features; individual areas may change over time. The garden can be described not only by its size but also by the number of themed areas.
The Spring Hill Farmers Market brings together 40 to 80 vendors each week. Offerings include local produce, meat and seafood, plants, crafts, baked goods, sourdough products and local honey. The selection ranges from food to plants and crafts. The weekly schedule and number of vendors can change, and the products on offer vary by vendor and season. If you plan to visit the market, check the date in advance.
Choose a hotel to suit your stay
When choosing a hotel in Spring Hill, it may help to plan your travel dates around the activities you have scheduled. The seasonal water park, changing outdoor conditions and weekly market each involve different planning considerations.
