Discover Plantation: Golf, Nature and Culture
Accommodation in Plantation
Plantation brings together a range of attractions for a stay: golf, nature trails and wetlands, play areas and splash pads, as well as museums and seasonal offerings. When planning, you can decide whether golf, nature, culture or a specific recreational activity should take priority.
Golf and scenery at Plantation Preserve
Plantation Preserve Golf Course & Club is a public facility with an 18-hole championship golf course. From the championship tees, the course measures 7,148 yards and has a par of 72. The facility includes a driving range, a practice putting green and a fairway bunker. These practice areas provide specific training opportunities in addition to the course. The figures describe different things: the yards indicate the course length from the championship tees; par 72 is the target score of 72 strokes for a round.
An Everglades-inspired wetland preserve runs through the front and back nine holes. This means the golf course and wetland preserve are part of the same landscape. Plantation Preserve's 55-acre linear park also includes a 1.5-mile multi-use trail.
Parks and trails
Plantation Heritage Park offers a 1.25-mile fitness trail. At 1.5 miles, the multi-use trail at Plantation Preserve is somewhat longer. Plantation Heritage Park also offers pedal boat rentals and an 18-hole disc golf course. Recreational offerings may change; check before your visit.
Volunteer Park includes nature trails and wetlands created to support local wildlife. Camp Everglades is also located in the park: a one-acre play area that offers children an educational opportunity and includes an Everglades village.
Plantation Woods is a 2.5-acre forest-themed park in Plantation's Historic District. Its ground-level splash pad features cattails, ground spray jets and colorful loops.
Museums, gardens and seasonal offerings
The Plantation Historical Museum features Seminole and Tequesta artifacts, as well as fire and police memorabilia, in its permanent exhibits. In the Butterfly Garden, a brick path winds through native plants and flowers that attract colorful butterflies.
The Young At Art Museum area at Broward Mall is wheelchair accessible. Check the current accessibility arrangements before your arrival.
The Plantation Historical Society hosts a Winter Wonderland every December. Trees are decorated in a variety of designs and cultural styles—a seasonal event for travelers planning a December stay.
At the Plantation Equestrian Center, the Share-A-Pony program teaches young riders the basics of riding, horse care and horse keeping. Program details depend on seasonal planning; check them for your intended visit date. Unlike the Winter Wonderland, which takes place every December, the riding program follows a seasonal schedule.
