Keystone: Ski Resort and Summer Trails
Accommodation in Keystone
Keystone Resort is located in the White River National Forest. Its ski area spans three peaks: Dercum Mountain, North Peak, and the Outback. The activities that shape your stay also depend on the season: in winter, skiing, Nordic trails, and snowshoe tours take center stage, while summer brings hiking and biking options.
Skiing and Winter Activities
Dercum Mountain has long, groomed beginner runs, including Family Ski Trail and Schoolmarm. Conditions may vary by season. The Keystone Nordic Center offers more than 17 kilometers of groomed trails for classic cross-country skiing and skating; operations depend on snow conditions.
The Nordic Center also provides access to 40 kilometers of nearby backcountry trails in the White River National Forest. These trails complement the groomed trail network with a different type of terrain; winter access depends on conditions and management. Guided snowshoe tours are offered at the Nordic Center throughout the winter season, though current availability may vary.
Seasonal winter activities also include two Snow Forts at the summit of Dercum Mountain. Construction and access may vary. A scenic horse-drawn sleigh ride travels through Soda Creek Valley; its availability may also change. Keystone Stables offers wagon rides and campfire stories, also subject to seasonal availability.
Summer Trails and Mountain Activities
In summer, Keystone’s ski runs become hiking trails. A chairlift also operates in summer, taking hikers to trails on the mountain peaks; seasonal lift operations may vary. This distinguishes the hiking trails on the former ski runs from the summit trails reached by lift.
The Keystone Bike Park has more than 100 trail miles across 55 trails, all served by lifts. Trail offerings and lift service may change over time. Golf is also part of the resort’s offerings: two golf courses provide a total of 36 holes, though seasonal operations may vary.
Other summer offerings focus on different activities. Snow tubing on real snow is available in Keystone; mini golf is located in Dercum Square. Mountain Top Yoga is also on the program. Availability of these seasonal offerings may change. The Adventure Center rents paddleboards by the half-hour and hour, including life jackets and leashes; these service details may also change seasonally.
