Yuba City: Sikh Festival, Museum and Bikeway
Accommodation in Yuba City
The annual Sikh Festival & Parade, the permanent exhibits at the Sutter County Museum and the Sutter Commuter Bikeway appeal to different interests: a multi-day event, cultural and regional history topics, and two described sections of bike path. You can use these specific themes to decide what to focus on during your stay.
Sikh Festival & Parade
The annual Sikh Festival lasts several days. Activities include fireworks, a flag-raising, an open house with tours, and a parade. The annual Sikh Festival & Parade ends with a 4.5-mile parade through Yuba City. More than 200,000 free meals are served at the festival.
The festival’s duration and the parade’s conclusion provide different time frames to consider. If you are mainly interested in seeing the procession, keep in mind that it ends the festival; if you want to attend several activities, plan around the full multi-day event. If you are traveling for this event, check the dates for that year’s festival before booking hotels.
Permanent Exhibits at the Sutter County Museum
The permanent exhibits at the Sutter County Museum cover the Nisenan, John Sutter and the history of agriculture in the region. A multicultural area also explores the diverse communities that make up a significant share of the population in Yuba-Sutter. The themes connect specific historical references and regional agriculture with a perspective on cultural diversity.
The Nisenan and John Sutter are named historical points of reference; the multicultural area focuses on communities in Yuba-Sutter. If you are looking for a museum topic rather than an event date, you can choose what to focus on based on these different subjects. As permanent exhibits, the museum’s themes differ from the annual multi-day festival: the exhibits center on subject areas, while the festival is a time-specific event.
Sutter Commuter Bikeway: Two Sections
Two sections of the Sutter Commuter Bikeway are described, each with a different classification and route. The Class I section is 5.00 miles long and follows the former Sacramento Northern Railroad right-of-way between the community of Sutter and the urban area of Yuba City. The Class II section follows Acacia Avenue for 1.2 miles. It begins at the end of the former railroad right-of-way on Acacia Avenue and continues to Sutter Union High School.
The Class I section is 3.8 miles longer than the Class II section. Their routes also differ: one follows the former railroad right-of-way, while the other follows Acacia Avenue and ends at Sutter Union High School. You can compare the sections by classification, length and named route points. There is parking for the Sutter Commuter Bikeway at the Humphrey Road crossing.
