When looking for a hotel in Suisun City, the reason for your trip can help guide your choice: the marina and waterways, marshland, historic downtown, or a specific event date. The city and its regional setting offer different starting points for your visit.

Marina and waterways

Suisun City Marina has 160 rental slips. It also has a public boat launch that is open 24 hours a day. A $10.00 parking pass is required to use the launch. Rental slips and the launch are two different options: the fee listed applies to the parking pass for the launch.

From the marina, the Suisun Channel provides direct access to the waterways of the California Delta and San Francisco Bay. Activities on the water are available along Suisun City’s waterfront, including boating, kayaking, and birdwatching. The range of options includes everything from trips along the channels to observing the landscape from the shore. Which activity suits your stay depends on whether you want to spend time on the water or mainly explore the area at a leisurely pace.

Marshland and nature trails

The Suisun Marsh provides a regional perspective: it is the largest contiguous estuarine marsh in the United States. Its approximately 85,000 acres include tidal marsh, managed wetlands, and waterways. This scale describes the regional landscape, not just the surroundings of a single attraction.

Peytonia Slough Ecological Reserve covers 117 acres of brackish and salt marsh. Wildlife viewing is possible there, and the Wetland Discovery Trail offers a self-guided nature tour. This makes it possible to build a visit around a specific nature theme without needing a guided tour. If you want to include different landscape locations, Rush Ranch is also nearby, outside the Suisun City locality. It is about two miles south of Highway 12 on Grizzly Island Road and has self-guided trails. When planning, note that the reserve, with its named nature trail, and the ranch trails are two separate destinations.

Downtown, rail, and events

Suisun-Fairfield station was originally built in 1914 and provides access to historic downtown and Suisun City’s waterfront. This connection makes the station a useful stop for visitors who want to include the historic downtown as well as the waterfront landscape. The year refers to the station’s original construction.

In 2026, Sunday Jazz on the Waterfront is scheduled for the second and fourth Sunday of each month. The Summer–Fall 2026 recreation program also lists Music on the Waterfront, featuring live performances. For October 2026, Dockside Dash is listed, with 5K and 2K routes through Suisun City’s Waterfront District. The two route lengths offer a clear choice for participants looking for a shorter or longer distance. If one of these dates is important to your trip, check the specific event dates before making plans.

In June 2026, the city announced a mini-pitch multisport court and a covered picnic pavilion for Heritage Park. The announcement identifies these two park improvements.
