Pine Mountain Club lies north of and at the foot of Mt. Pinos. When planning, also check access conditions for individual activities; access to the golf course is restricted.

Location and Development

Pine Mountain Club is located on more than 3,000 acres of private woodland; the Los Padres National Forest surrounds and protects the area. Tenneco West developed Pine Mountain Club in 1971 on 3,200 acres of land within the national forest, at the foot of Mount Pinos and Sawmill Mountain. Sales of lots for Pine Mountain Club began in 1971; the sixth and final section opened by 1973.

Hiking Trails and Waterfalls

Several hiking trails start along residential streets and lead into the Los Padres National Forest; these trails are open to residents and guests. The terrain ranges from mostly flat trails to challenging terrain with rock formations. Some trails pass meandering streams, through old-growth pine forests, or to waterfalls.

The Woodland Waterfalls Trail is just under a mile long from the trailhead to the waterfalls.

Fern’s Lake and Fishing

Fern’s Lake is fed year-round by mountain streams and is home to various fish species, including largemouth bass. Visitors can walk around the water and picnic at the tables by the lake. No fishing license is required; anglers are also asked to follow a catch-and-release policy. The lake thus combines nature watching, a walk, and an explicitly stated fishing rule.

Golf and Riding Lessons

Pine Mountain Club Golf Course is a nine-hole mountain golf course rated by the PGA. Its features include varied fairways, water features, and panoramic views of Mt. Pinos and the San Emigdio Mountains. The course is semi-private and open only to property owners in Pine Mountain Club, their guests, and members of Pine Mountain Club Golf Course. Because membership and guest conditions may change, check the current access rules before planning a round.

It also offers specialized riding lessons for gaited horses. Lesson offerings may change; check which types of instruction are currently available before planning a lesson.

Lampkin Park

Lampkin Park combines play areas with places to take a break in the greenery. The sand playground is equipped with swings, climbing frames, slide towers, and a climbing wall. There are also picnic areas, barbecue grills, a pavilion, and lawns. The park description also includes opportunities to relax in a woodland setting. Alongside the hiking trails and activities at the lake, the park offers another way to spend time outdoors.
