Reedley brings together a range of highlights for a stay: the Kings River, trails and recreational facilities, historic cultural sites, and annual events. The Kings River flows through the western part of the city. Whether you’re looking for time outdoors, live theater, or insight into local history, the destinations differ in their uses and character.

Road Connections and the River

Manning Avenue is a four-lane east-west thoroughfare that connects Reedley to State Route 99, 12 miles to the west. Reed Avenue is a two-lane north-south thoroughfare that connects Reedley to State Route 180, 8 miles to the north. The two routes can be distinguished by their direction, number of lanes, and the State Route they connect to.

Reedley Beach is a public access point to the Kings River. It has public restrooms, an outdoor shower, picnic tables, and a barbecue grill. Monument Hill Park is a historic park on the banks of the Kings River. Reedley’s connection to the river thus includes both a named public access point and a park with historic character.

Trails and Recreational Facilities

The scenic Reedley Community Parkway is 3.2 miles long and runs from the back of Reedley College to Reedley Sports Park. Common uses of the parkway include cycling, walking, jogging, picnicking, and roller skating. It is classified as a Class I bike path. The route connects a variety of familiar recreational activities rather than being limited to just one.

Reedley Sports Park is at the end of the parkway. Its amenities include a playground, sports fields and courts, a barbecue and picnic area, and a concession stand. Cricket Hollow is a fishing spot with a barbecue and picnic area and restrooms. Reedley Beach, in turn, offers public access to the river and its picnic and visitor facilities. When choosing a destination based on activity, it helps to know the distinction: Reedley Beach is the river access point, Cricket Hollow is the fishing spot, and Sports Park is the place with a playground and sports facilities.

Culture, History, and Events

The Reedley Opera House offers live theater in the historic Jansen Opera House, built in 1903. Another historic building is the Reedley National Bank at 1100 G Street. This building is recognized for its historic significance in commerce and architecture. The park on the Kings River adds another historic outdoor site to the area’s local history.

The Reedley Historical Museum is at 1752 10th Street; the Mennonite Quilt Center and Museum is at 1012 G Street. Their names and addresses give guests concrete points of reference when including Reedley’s museums in their interests. They complement the live theater and historic bank building with additional named cultural sites.

The Reedley Fiesta is Reedley’s largest annual event and a cherished homecoming tradition. Recurring activities include live entertainment, a vendor market, food offerings, a fun run, an annual parade, and a frog-jumping contest. The event program ranges from entertainment and a market to athletic and unusual contest formats. If you want to plan your trip around the Fiesta, check the event dates before making plans.

Seasonal Farm Tour and Regional Context

The Hillcrest & Wahtoke Railroad offers a seasonal 15-minute farm tour in Reedley aboard a half-scale, steam-powered narrow-gauge train. This short tour is a clearly defined activity; it is also seasonal and is not described as a year-round offering. Before your visit, check whether the farm tour is available during your travel dates.

Reedley is also the sixth stop on Visit California’s nine-stop route, “Las rutas de la fruta y de las flores de Fresno.” For travelers interested in this themed route, the stop number places Reedley within the larger itinerary.
