For a stay in Bülach, choose from historic buildings, a museum, hikes and a range of recreational activities. Highlights include medieval architecture, a town hall dating from the 17th century and a hike with long-distance views that depend on the weather. An indoor swimming pool, climbing hall and mini golf round out the options. Before your trip, you can decide whether to focus on local history, the landscape or active leisure.

Old Town and Architectural History

Bülach Town Hall was built in the 17th century by master builder Heinrich Gassmann. The council chamber is designed in a transitional style between Renaissance and Baroque and contains a tower stove dating from 1673. The Old Town also features well-preserved medieval architecture. Bülach thus brings together different historical reference points: a townscape shaped by the Middle Ages and a town hall from a later period.

Museum: Village Life and Collections

The Bülach Museum documents village life in the past. Its local history collection includes objects from the first half of the 19th century; the museum also hosts two temporary exhibitions each year. The collection and temporary exhibitions offer different perspectives: a look at village life in the past and historical collection objects, alongside a changing exhibition program. If you are planning to visit for a particular exhibition, check the current dates in advance.

Hikes from Bülach and in the District

The hike from Bülach via Eschenmosen offers several viewpoints. In clear weather, the view from the edge of the forest stretches north as far as Germany; from a small plateau, it extends east to the Säntis and the Eastern Swiss Alps. The two viewpoints offer different highlights: a long-distance view north from the forest’s edge and an eastward view of the Alps from the plateau.

The hike also features a large playground with slides, swings and a sandpit, enclosures with donkeys and goats, and an aviary. The Bülach district also has easy hiking routes: a loop along the banks of the Töss and the Roman road by the railway, and a loop through the Neeracherried nature reserve. These routes are in the district; the trail via Eschenmosen is the hike from Bülach.
