La Lécherette is a mountain village in the Pays-d’Enhaut, in the municipality of Château-d’Œx in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. The village lies at an altitude of 1,379 metres. Activities vary by season: in winter, ski lifts, a cross-country ski trail and snowshoeing take centre stage; summer mountain biking access and cheese production round out the picture.

Skiing, cross-country skiing and biathlon

Together with Les Mosses, La Lécherette forms the Les Mosses–La Lécherette winter sports area. The La Lécherette ski area has three ski lifts, most of which are drag lifts. Seven pistes are classified as blue, red or black. The Arsat ski lift links the area directly to the Les Mosses ski area. The lifts operate seasonally, so we recommend checking the operating information for your planned dates.

For an introduction to cross-country skiing, there is the Zone de découverte de La Lécherette: a 1.26-kilometre trail that is ideal for trying out the sport. You can also try biathlon at Les Mosses and in La Lécherette. Whether this activity is offered depends on the season, snow conditions and the arrangements available.

Snowshoeing and trails on Les Monts Chevreuils

The La Lécherette–Les Monts-Chevreuils snowshoe trail starts in the village and leads to the summit of Monts-Chevreuils, at an altitude of 1,749 metres. The route offers views of Lac de l’Hongrin and the Pays-d’Enhaut valley; how far you can see depends on the weather. Snow conditions may affect access, so we recommend checking them before setting out.

In summer, you can reach Les Monts Chevreuils from La Lécherette by mountain bike; in winter, access is possible on touring skis. Check trail conditions before setting out by mountain bike. For touring skis, snow and mountain conditions are key. The hiking trails on Les Monts Chevreuils pass through forests and flower-filled pastures, offering a different perspective on the area from the seasonal access by bike or touring skis.

Alpine cheese and local products

The Ferme de la Sciaz lies at an altitude of 1,450 metres in the municipality of Château-d’Œx. Milk from around 20 cows is used to make Le Piat, a soft cheese with a washed rind that is unique to the Pays-d’Enhaut. The farm’s own agritourism concept also includes welcoming visitors to the Alpine pasture; specific arrangements may vary.

Another culinary stop is Alpage Les Coques, above Lac de l’Hongrin in La Lécherette. It can be reached on foot from La Lécherette via the Barrage de l’Hongrin trail, Route No. 8; trail conditions may vary. During the summer season, the producers at the Alpage make more than 200 wheels of L’Etivaz AOP.

Le Self – La Lécherette offers farm products from the Ferme de la Sciaz as well as other local products; the selection may change. The Buvette des Eraisis, also known as the Buvette de La Lécherette, is located at the foot of the La Lécherette ski lift. Its opening arrangements may change.

Getting there and local details

La Lécherette can be reached via main road 11 and PostBus route 174 between Château-d’Œx and Col des Mosses. If you are travelling by bus, check the timetable for your travel date. The village has the Eglise de la Lécherette church, as well as an association for the chapel of La Lécherette.
