Accommodation in Goumoens-Le-Jux
If you are looking for a hotel in Goumoens-Le-Jux, you can start by considering its rural setting and the Golf Club Domaine du Brésil. Goumoens-le-Jux is a small hamlet on the plateau of the central Gros-de-Vaud, on the eastern edge of the Talent valley in the Vaud Plateau. It lies at an elevation of about 585 metres. The Golf Club Domaine du Brésil is located at Chemin du Brésil 4, 1376 Goumoëns-le-Jux, giving travellers interested in golf a specific local point of reference.
Golf Club, Academy and Restaurant
The club has a hilly 9-hole, par-35 course covering 33 hectares; the course is open daily. In addition to the course, the Domaine du Brésil Golf Academy offers courses and workshops that are open to visitors. The academy was founded in 2003 and caters to adults and children. Golf enthusiasts can therefore consider both the course and the courses or workshops as possible interests for their trip. Since 24 November 2022, the Golf Club has been GEO-certified; the certification confirms its commitment to sustainability. Club details and programme availability may change. Check the latest information directly with the club before visiting.
The Domaine du Brésil restaurant is also open to the public. Its cuisine is seasonal. If you are planning a visit to the restaurant, check the current access arrangements and menu in advance, as both may change.
Landscapes and Trails Along the Talent
The former municipal area included a section of the gently rolling Gros-de-Vaud plateau, the largely wooded Talent valley, and open farmland in the higher areas. The open farmland at higher elevations and the largely wooded Talent valley formed distinct parts of the former municipal area's landscape. This description of the former municipal area complements the location of the small hamlet on the plateau at the eastern edge of the valley.
The Boucle des Gorges du Talent passes close to Golf du Brésil in Goumoëns-le-Jux. The route follows the Talent river and crosses hilly trails. It requires good physical fitness; on some sections, you may need to push your bicycle. If you plan to include the loop in your trip, take these requirements into account and check current route conditions in advance.
Local History Across Several Periods
Goumoens-le-Jux was first mentioned in 1447 under the name Gumoens lo Jux and was known as Le Craux during the Ancien Régime. Another historical connection is Albrecht von Haller: he acquired the lordship of Goumoens-le-Jux in 1764 and adopted the name H. de Goumoens. The history of the name and Haller's acquisition thus belong to different periods in the area's history.
The municipality's affiliations have also changed: on 1 July 2011, Goumoens-le-Jux became part of the new municipality of Goumoëns through a merger with Éclagnens and Goumoens-la-Ville. The sequence of its first mention, the history of its lordship and the municipal reorganisation provides a timeline alongside today's themes of golf and landscape.
