Champoussin is set in an exceptional mountain basin and offers direct views of the Dents du Midi.

Ski Area and Slopes

The Champéry–Les Crosets–Morgins–Champoussin ski area is part of the cross-border French-Swiss Portes du Soleil ski area. In Champoussin, the ski terrain for beginners features a gentle gradient and wide slopes. From the top station of the chairlift of the same name, the Les Bochasses piste offers two blue runs and a red variant. The beginner terrain is characterized by its gradient and width, while Les Bochasses offers specific slope classifications. Check which slopes are open before travelling, as the configuration of a ski sector may change.

Snowshoe Routes and Orienteering

Champoussin has marked snowshoe routes; the offer includes four routes. Their use is seasonal and depends on conditions. The Région Dents du Midi orienteering offer includes a 5.5 km course in Champoussin and a 16 km long-distance course from Champoussin to Les Crosets. The courses differ in length and destination: the shorter one runs in Champoussin, while the long-distance course leads to Les Crosets. Both orienteering courses are subject to seasonal conditions.

The Tour de Délifrète starts at the large car park on the right at the entrance to Champoussin. Check the parking arrangements in advance, as they may change.

Hiking and Regional Products

The Tour des alpages is an easy hike that passes by alpine restaurants. It offers the chance to sample local products on a terrace overlooking the Dents du Midi. Restaurant participation and seasonal opening hours may change; check what is on offer before your visit.

Cheese is made at La Ferme à Gaby. In summer, around 30 Chamoisée alpine goats graze on the extensive surrounding meadows. Seasonal farm activities and visiting arrangements may change. If you are planning a visit, check the arrangements in advance. There is also a cheese-making demonstration in Champoussin; dates and providers may change. For planning purposes, these cheese-related activities differ in timing: the goats graze in summer, while the dates of the demonstration may change.

Champoussin also has a paragliding school. Local operators and availability may change; ask in advance about current options.

Getting There and the Regional Setting

Bus No. 81 connects Val-d’Illiez railway station with the resort villages of Champoussin and Les Crosets. Check the route and timetable before travelling.

In the wider region around Champoussin lies the Val d’Illiez, a glacial valley in the canton of Valais and the district of Monthey in the Valais Chablais. The valley faces northeast and is drained by the Vièze. Its boundaries include several Alpine peaks and glacial landscapes, including the Dents du Midi, the Dents Blanches and the Susanfe glacial basin. The wider valley area, with its mountain formations, therefore differs from the immediate surroundings of Champoussin, which are defined by the mountain basin and views of the Dents du Midi.
