Häusernmoos in the Emmental
Accommodation in Häusernmoos in the Emmental
For a trip to Häusernmoos, hiking, building culture, and a visit to the koi garden pond can each be a focus. The trails offer specific routes; at the pond, sightseeing, feeding the koi, and seasonal cuisine come with their own conditions for groups and children. Agriculture and farm holidays are also topics you can take into account when planning.
Hiking: routes and timeframes
The one-way hike “Steam Train and Treats in Dürrenroth” begins in Häusernmoos and leads over the Horn through the Oberwald to Dürrenroth. You can choose between a short option of 5.9 km and 1.5 hours and a long option of 9.2 km and 2.5 hours. The two options differ by 3.3 km and one hour, so you can choose your hike according to the distance and time available. The landscape and farmhouses are among the attractions along this route. Check the route details before your trip.
Another option is the “Municipal Trail – Affoltern i.E.,” which passes through the three villages of Affoltern, Häusernmoos, and Weier. Along the way, the route passes magnificent old standard fruit trees. For a short stretch, it follows the signposted Way of St. James Trail No. 4, a national route. The surface alternates between paved roads and forest and meadow paths. In winter, the trail is passable with minor deviations. Compared with the hike to Dürrenroth, this route focuses in particular on the village route, the different surfaces, and its accessibility in winter.
Building culture and route connections
Two buildings in Häusernmoos provide a specific connection to local building culture. The station building at Huttwilstrasse 134, house number 20, is classified as worthy of preservation. The farmhouse at Dorfstrasse 111, house number 51, is considered worthy of protection. The two buildings therefore have different classifications. The Way of St. James leads from Häusernmoos via Heiligeland to Lueg, adding another named route to the hiking trails described above. This means that when exploring the area, you can take both specific buildings and routes into account.
Koi garden pond: visits and cuisine
Visitors to the koi garden pond can tour the entire pond complex and feed Japanese koi carp. Groups can join a guided tour of the entire complex by prior arrangement; it includes information about koi and pond construction, as well as an apéritif. The koi garden pond restaurant serves seasonal cuisine. A three-course surprise menu with a tour of the entire complex is also available by prior arrangement. When planning, it is useful to distinguish between a visit and the options that require advance booking: the guided tour and menu must be booked in advance. Children may visit the koi garden pond only when accompanied by an adult.
Agriculture and accommodation options
At Waltrigen farm in Häusernmoos, the Nyffeler family business farms 17 ha of land and 3 ha of woodland, as well as around 2.5 ha of Ricola herbs. Natura-Beef mixed packages can be bought fresh from the farm to order. If you are considering a farm stay as well as a hotel, farm holidays are available at Waltrigen. This gives you the option of including this type of accommodation in your travel plans, while the farmed land and direct sales offer another insight into agriculture in Häusernmoos.
