Detligen is a locality in the political municipality of Radelfingen in the Seeland administrative district of the canton of Bern. Its location on the southern slope of the Frienisberg, the history of Klösterli and the hiking routes give the area several different highlights. If you are looking for a hotel in Detligen, you can plan your stay around whether architectural history, a hike or a local festival will be the focus.

Klösterli and the mill group

The medieval Cistercian nunnery in Detligen was probably founded in the 13th century. The former monastery was dissolved during the Reformation in 1528. A spa was established in the former monastery buildings in 1752 and became known as Klösterli or Detligerbad. The present-day building fabric of Klösterli dates from the 17th to the 19th century; two late Gothic windows have been preserved on the upper floor.

The Baroque group of buildings comprising Klösterli and the mill is one of the finest parts of the townscape. The nearby mill group includes uniform buildings and intact rural spaces between them. Together, they form a cohesive ensemble of high architectural and spatial quality. The different periods of construction and the preserved architectural features give the townscape a layered history.

Hiking around Detligen

The Detliger Bierwanderig is an approximately five-kilometre circular route through and around Detligen. The Detligen municipal building serves as the start and finish point; the event organiser may change these points. Check the details for the relevant edition before planning your day around it. Another hike begins at the Detligen, Post stop. The route follows field paths above the Mülital to Chästu, then descends to Oltigen. From Bern, you can reach the hike by PostBus to the Detligen, Post stop. Check the timetable before travelling.
