Tranemo: Hiking, Culture and Cinema
Accommodation in Tranemo
Tranemo combines an easy walking trail in the heart of town with cultural attractions such as a cultural centre, church, gallery and cinema. A stay can therefore focus on exercise, architectural history, exhibitions or film.
Circular Trail and Leisure in Town
The Tranemosjön runt circular trail is 5.5 kilometres long and is classified as an easy walking trail in the heart of Tranemo. The easiest place to start is the car park opposite Tranemo kyrka. This starting point makes it easier to find your way when planning the loop.
Near Parkudden, there is a swimming area with a jetty, swimming raft, beach volleyball court and boat dock. For a longer route, there is the Sjuhäradsrundan: the circular route is 15 Swedish miles in total, 12 of which are completely car-free. It runs between Borås, Ulricehamn, Tranemo and Svenljunga. In comparison, Tranemosjön runt, at 5.5 kilometres, is the compact local walking option, while the Sjuhäradsrundan is considerably longer overall and includes four named places. The swimming area can be reached via Brogatan, where parking is available. This adds a specific access point to its location near Parkudden. On the Sjuhäradsrundan, 12 of the 15 Swedish miles are completely car-free, so the car-free section accounts for four-fifths of the entire route. Length is therefore not the only point of comparison with Tranemosjön runt; the car-free proportion also matters.
Cultural Venues and History
The Centralen cultural centre is located on the shore of Tranemosjön. It brings together a library, bistro, hotel and flexible, creative spaces. Centralen opened in 2020 following a local initiative that collected 1,000 signatures.
Tranemo kyrka was built in 1882 to replace an earlier wooden church. It was designed by Borås architect Emil Langlet. The cultural centre therefore opened more than a century after the church was built.
The Tranemo konstnärsgrupp runs a gallery on Storgatan. At the Tranemo library, Svarta Galleriet is the exhibition wall where local exhibitors can display their work. The artists’ group’s gallery and the display space in the library are two different formats. The exhibitions at Svarta Galleriet change over time.
Cinema and Disc Golf
At Bio Tranan, screenings of a children’s film and an adult film take place every other Sunday. The programme also includes a Nordic-themed film on Thursdays and a lunchtime film on Wednesdays each month. If you are planning a cinema visit, check the programme before travelling.
The 9-hole Discgolf Tranemo course is suitable for beginners and experienced players who want to practise approach and placement throws. Unlike the walking trail, the focus here is on throwing technique rather than distance covered.
