When looking for a hotel in Nynäshamn, the focus of your trip may also play a role. Coastal trails and nature sit alongside the history of the bathing resort, railway heritage and art exhibitions. This gives you the opportunity to consider whether you are interested in activities by the sea, local history or cultural topics.

Lövhagen and the Coast

Lövhagen is one of Nynäshamn’s most impressive and easily accessible natural areas. It has gravel roads, paths and marked trails. Two marked trails pass through more challenging terrain. Lövhagen is an easily accessible natural area, while two marked trails pass through more challenging terrain. When choosing a route, you can therefore consider the area’s general accessibility separately from the particular terrain of these two marked trails, for example when planning your route.

Strandvägen, also known as Ringvägen, runs along the sea to Lövhagen. Coniferous forest lies on one side, and the open sea on the other. A bike ride along Strandvägen in Nynäshamn is peaceful and easy, with views of the sea. Hiking and cycling have different highlights: two marked trails pass through more challenging terrain, while the bike ride is considered peaceful and easy.

Strandvägen’s history is also linked to a specific event: the route was built for spectators of the Olympic sailing competitions held in Stockholm in 1912.

Bathing History and Railways

Trehörningen eventually became the center of Nynäshamn’s bathing resort. Between 1906 and 1913, Badhotellet, Parkhotellet, Strandhotellet and a casino were built there. This makes Trehörningen a distinct historical point of interest, alongside Strandvägen’s connection to the sailing competitions. The construction period in Trehörningen includes 1912, the year of the Olympic sailing competitions in Stockholm, for whose spectators Strandvägen was built.

The Nynäshamns Järnvägsmuseum displays a collection of historic railway vehicles in its locomotive shed. The museum also operates heritage train services with steam locomotives and carriages, including on the Nynäsbanan. The collection and train services are two different aspects of the railway theme. Operating days may vary; if you are planning a trip, check the dates in advance.

Art and the Harbor

Nynäshamns konsthall hosts exhibitions by professional artists and amateurs. These include spring salons, student exhibitions, photography exhibitions and exhibitions aimed at children. If a particular exhibition is important to your trip, check the dates.

Nynäshamns Gästhamn has 300 berths, well sheltered inside the breakwater. The harbor sheds sell coffee and pastries, art and crafts, antiques, and clothing.
