There are several ways to plan a stay in Näsum: longer routes for hiking and cycling, a short circular walk, natural sights around Näsumaviken, and archaeological and industrial history. The routes vary considerably in length and format; Gudahagen and Humletorkan each offer their own historical themes. When planning, you can first decide whether to focus on activity, landscape or culture.

Choose Trails by Length and Landscape

Näsumaleden is 24 kilometres long and is a route for motor vehicles, bicycles and hikers; it runs mostly along gravel roads. At Västanåberget, it passes through mature forest with small fields, grazing pastures and stone walls. In Sibbarpsdalen, the route passes waterfalls and the ruins of former mills. It also runs near fishing spots.

Näsumaviksleden offers a different scale: it is an approximately 3.5-kilometre circular walk around Näsumaviken. This gives you a choice between the 24-kilometre route and a much shorter loop. To decide, you can first compare the desired distance and then the route format. Travel information by train and bus is available for starting at Näsums kyrka or in Östafors. Since transport information can change, check the details before setting off.

Nature and Hiking Trails Nearby

Around Näsum, the Skåneleden trail (SL1 Coast to Coast, Stage 2) and the Blekingeleden trail (Stage 2) meet in Näsums bokskogar. In the northern part of Ryssberget, Näsums bokskogar offers several hiking trails to choose from. These trails add further hiking options around Näsum to the specific route details for Näsumaleden and Näsumaviksleden.

Näsumaviken has remarkable flora and fauna. Näsumaviksleden lies in the Åsen area, which is rich in fossils from the municipality of Bromölla’s 80-million-year-old fossil history. The circular walk can therefore be considered in terms of both its length and its connections to nature and fossils.

Gudahagen and the Viking Market

The Gudahagen burial ground in Näsum was established during the Late Iron Age. It consists of a stone-reinforced rectangle built around a natural rise, with sides up to 50 metres long. The natural rise and the rectangular layout define the described structure of the burial ground.

Gudahagen’s Viking Market features games and competitions in the style of the Viking Age. The organiser describes the event as recurring and gives the third weekend in September as its usual date. Check the specific dates for your chosen year before travelling.

Humletorkan: Industrial History and Café

Humletorkan was built in 1926. The building stands beside the road between Vånga and Näsum, on the slope of Västanåberget overlooking the Holjeån valley. At its peak, Humletorkan dried up to eight tonnes of hop cones per year. Its construction date, location and former production each offer a different way to learn about the site.

Café Humletorkan serves freshly baked fika and coffee, as well as light, seasonally adjusted meals such as open-faced sandwiches, hearty salads and warming soups. The menu and service details may change; check the current selection before your visit.
