Sankt Anna offers plenty of reasons to explore its archipelago: protected nature, beaches, kayaking and cultural history. When planning your trip, consider which of these aspects of the archipelago you would most like to focus on.

Archipelago and nature

The Sankt Anna Nature Reserve includes numerous skerries in two areas of the outer archipelago southeast of Aspöja, as well as a smaller area closer to the mainland. Large numbers of eider ducks nest in the protected area. Seasonal rules apply in parts of the area to protect wildlife.

The S:t Anna archipelago stretches from Aspöja and Bergön in the north to Södra Finnö in the south. This geographical span gives the region its distinctive archipelago setting. Nature lovers will find specific things to discover during their stay, including the skerries and eider ducks; seasonal conservation rules are also part of planning a visit.

Kayaking is another activity on offer: Kajakparadiset in the Sankt Anna archipelago has 14 different kayak models available for rent. If you are planning to rent a kayak, check current availability with the provider.

Beaches in the inner archipelago

Källbukten and Sanden are in the inner Sankt Anna archipelago and offer different beach features. Källbukten beach is large and child-friendly. It also has a spacious bathing jetty and shallow water.

The beach at Sanden is also child-friendly. It has fine-grained sand and bathing jetties. Near Tyrislöt, a smaller sandy beach with bathing jetties lies in a sheltered bay in the natural archipelago. This gives you a choice of different kinds of shoreline, from a large beach with shallow water to fine-grained sand and a smaller bay.

Beach facilities may change seasonally. If your plans depend on specific facilities, check local conditions before your visit.

Cultural history and trails

The S:t Anna Skärgårdsmuseum in Tyrislöt shows how people in the archipelago lived in earlier times. The nature and cultural trail in Tyrislöt starts at Skärgårdsmuseet and is about 2.5 km long. Together, the museum and trail offer different ways to explore the living conditions, nature and cultural history of the archipelago.

Another historical landmark is Sankt Anna gamla kyrka. It was built in the 14th century as a sailors’ chapel. Its original function connects the church’s history to seafaring, while the museum focuses on the everyday lives of the archipelago’s former residents.

Near Sankt Anna, there is an 800-metre-long meadow trail by Nedre Lagnö. It is accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs. Check local facilities before travelling to make sure this accessibility suits your specific plans.
