If you’re looking for a hotel in Vislanda, you can plan your trip around different interests: Vislanda Church combines Neoclassical architecture with a documented history of its organ, while cycling and hiking trails and nature experiences offer other highlights. When planning your cycling trips, it’s important to note the different status of the routes.

Getting here and the church’s history

Vislanda station is served by Krösatågen trains and regional buses. If you’re considering travelling by train or bus, check the timetables for your travel date so you can coordinate your arrival with your stay.

Vislanda Church is a compact-looking Neoclassical stone church with white-rendered façades. An organ by Pehr Schiörlin was installed there in 1813. Its architecture and the history of its organ offer two different points of entry to Vislanda’s cultural heritage.

Cycling: routes and planning status

Banvallsleden passes through Vislanda and Kojtet and follows the Vislandabanan railway line, which runs between Karlshamn, Vislanda and Bolmen. The proposed Möckeln–Åsnenleden, by contrast, includes the Älmhult–Vislanda and Vislanda–Ryd stages. It is still under development and is not yet signposted. You can use the Naturkartan app for guidance; check the latest status before setting out.

The proposed route can be ridden in shorter sections. For a shorter round trip, you can combine the Älmhult–Vislanda stage with a train journey, so you don’t have to return along the same route. The two cycling options therefore differ both in their routes and in their planning status.

Hiking near Kojtasjön and Mellansjön

The hiking area around Kojtasjön and Mellansjön is a few kilometres east of Vislanda. The trails vary in length and can be combined, so you can tailor the distance to your plans. The landscape in this area includes wet meadows, an old lake bed, cultural landscapes, farmland, older and younger woodland, and clear-cuts.

The hiking area also includes archaeological remains, among them a burial ground from the Late Iron Age. Nature and history can be explored in the same area, without every hike having to focus on the same theme.

Nature experiences and events

Husebymaden Nature Reserve is another nature experience associated with Vislanda. It covers 130 hectares, has been protected since 1988 and is part of the Natura 2000 network. The reserve has a birdwatching tower and abundant birdlife. The orange trail is partly closed; check the reserve’s latest notice before your visit.

Just outside Vislanda is WieselgrensgĂĄrden, a historic farm with roots in the 19th century. Sustainable cultivation is demonstrated in the gardens. Seasonal pick-your-own flowers and a farm shop round out the offer; the shop sells locally produced and reused products such as vegetables, eggs, honey and local handicrafts. Flower picking is seasonal. Check the current opening hours before your visit.

The Hitta Vilse trail is in the school forest behind the canteen at Vislandaskolan. Illustrated panels explain to children what to do if they get lost. The trail has a distinct focus on finding your way in the forest.

Skeppshult, home of the Vislanda Hembygdsförening, hosts annual Walpurgis Night and Midsummer celebrations, cultural days and other events. If a particular celebration is important to your trip, check the event dates in advance.
