Ramkvilla – Lakes, Trails and Cultural Landscape

The route therefore offers more than a single landscape impression: elevations, forests, cultural landscapes and lakes provide different points of reference for finding your way around the area.

Another route option is stage HÖ10 of the Höglandsleden, from Ramkvilla to Asa, which follows Klockesjön. Smålandsleden and Sverigeleden also pass through Ramkvilla. The route names help distinguish the different trails: the Ramkvillarundan is notable for its terrain and landscape features, while HÖ10 follows the lakeshore.

A 2005 assessment by Jönköping County highlights Klockesjön’s high natural value and several rare species. The same assessment notes that two areas in the shore zone meet the criteria for Natura 2000 sites. This dated assessment adds a natural-history perspective on the lake to the trails and landscape.

Swimming at Klockesjön

Klockesjöbadet has a floating jetty with a diving tower. There is also a volleyball court and a football pitch nearby. At the swimming area by Klockesjön, the beach is long and gently sloping; it is also suitable for the youngest children.

Golf and other activities

Ramkvilla Golfklubb has a full-size 9-hole golf course with nine greens and 18 tee boxes, par 72. The picturesque parkland course is located beside the church village and Klockesjön. This combination of course format and waterside setting makes golf a distinct focus for a stay in Ramkvilla.

Ramoa Äventyrsby is two kilometres from Ramkvilla and rents out bicycles, kayaks, canoes and boats. Other activities include football golf and a pentathlon featuring precision events such as air rifle shooting, axe throwing and archery. Local history and culture

In the area around Ramkvilla, slate was mined at Hörnebo skiffergruva in the mid-19th century, mainly for roofing. Tours of the mine can be arranged by agreement with Ramkvilla hembygdsförening.

Ramkvilla kyrka stands on the shore of Klockesjön. A runestone from Ramkvilla is built into the church’s south wall at ground level.
