The municipality of Gnosjö brings together a varied natural landscape of lakes and waterways, ridges and valleys, and open countryside. It has 111 lakes, each covering more than one hectare. Water, higher ground and open landscapes shape the changing scenery. When planning your trip, you can choose from nature and hiking experiences as well as activities in town. Options range from trails through the municipality to art, swimming and a lakeside bathing spot at Lake Hären.

Hiking trails with a range of destinations

Three sections of Smålandsleden, a hiking trail network more than 900 kilometres long, pass through Gnosjö: Järnbärarleden, Kävsjölänken and Höglandsleden. This means you can choose trails with different destinations rather than limiting your hiking plans to a single route.

Järnbärarleden is about 20 kilometres long and rated moderate. It starts at the Töllstorp recreation area and connects Gnosjö with Isaberg Mountain Resort. Kävsjölänken is also about 20 kilometres long and runs from the Töllstorp recreation area to Kävsjö Church. Although the trails are listed as being of similar length, their destinations offer clear points of reference: Isaberg for one route and Kävsjö Church for the other. Järnbärarleden is also rated moderate. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

Ettö: Pastures, water and activities

The Ettö nature reserve lies in the municipalities of Gislaved and Gnosjö. Flower-rich pastures, butterflies and shimmering expanses of water shape the landscape. A blue-marked hiking trail runs through hilly terrain; there is also a cycling route and a bathing spot. The options offer different ways to enjoy Ettö: hiking, cycling or spending time at the bathing spot.

Art and swimming in Gnosjö

Gnosjö Library houses the “Första rummet” exhibition hall. It hosts art exhibitions featuring local, national and international artists. The range therefore extends from art by artists from the surrounding area to work by artists from Sweden and abroad.

For swimming, Gnosjö has an indoor pool at Töllstorpshallen, with a large and a small pool as well as an area for younger children. For a different setting, there is Gnosjö Beach on the north shore of Lake Hären, three kilometres south of Gnosjö. Its facilities include jetties, changing rooms, toilets, play equipment, a barbecue area and a ramp. The two swimming spots offer a clear choice: pools indoors or a lakeshore with the facilities listed above.
