Accommodation in Venta Del Moro
In Venta Del Moro, river scenery, wine-making traditions and local culture come together. The Hoces del Cabriel lie along the left bank of the RĂo Cabriel in Valencia and entirely within the municipality. The Hoces del Cabriel Natural Park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Along the RĂo Cabriel, imposing cliffs and winding rock faces shape the landscape; distinctive rock spires are home to eagles and other birds of prey.
Nature and trails along the RĂo Cabriel
The PR-CV 344 begins at the Fuente la Oliva recreation area in Venta Del Moro and is a circular hiking trail. It leads into the Hoces del Cabriel and through the Hoz de Vicente. The route is of both geological and environmental interest. The blue route Venta del Moro–Puente de Vadocañas is also part of the natural park. The two routes have different names; check the relevant descriptions and current conditions before setting out. Route descriptions and ratings may change.
Various activities are available around the RĂo Cabriel: canoeing, kayaking, rafting, canyoning and river SUP, as well as road and mountain biking and trekking. The range includes everything from water-based activities to excursions on foot or by bike. If you are planning any of these, check the providers and conditions separately.
Wine, tastings and cellars
Bodega Neleman is an organic and vegan winery in Casas del Rey, in Venta Del Moro and in the Hoces del Cabriel Natural Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Vineyard visits are offered seasonally; wine tastings are available year-round.
During Venta Del Moro's summer celebrations, the Certamen de Vinos y ExhibiciĂłn GastronĂłmica takes place in August. Visitors can sample wines and food from the region. Dates and arrangements may vary; if you would like to plan your trip around the festival, check the latest information.
Local architectural history is also connected to wine culture. In the historic centre, on Calle Huertos, is Jaime Latorre's restored cave winery, a small winery dating from the mid-19th century. The extensive municipal area also contains numerous underground cellars connected to houses. They were traditionally used to make and store wine.
Churches and local traditions
The parish church of Nuestra Señora de Loreto has the status of a Bien de Relevancia Local. The Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Carmen de Las Monjas stands out for its Gothic-inspired design. Both churches offer different perspectives on the town's religious and architectural culture.
Established traditions include the Mayos, held on the night of 30 April, with musical processions through the town. On Easter Sunday, the Judas tradition is observed: the Quintos make a figure from cloth and straw and hang it from the church tower. These fixed dates give culturally minded travellers a specific calendar reference, while the August Certamen is associated with wine and regional food.
Planning your visit
The Hoces del Cabriel Natural Park information centre is in Venta Del Moro. Its exhibition focuses on the RĂo Cabriel and its ecosystem. If you plan to visit, check visiting arrangements before you travel. This lets you plan visits to the town, nature-related activities and other possible activities separately, without treating the hiking trail information or seasonal vineyard dates as equivalent.
