Polinyà De Xúquer brings together a range of historical highlights, a museum of magic and the Ruta dels Assuts. Its heritage spans from a 16th-century chapel to an agricultural building dating from the mid-18th century. Other highlights include civil Gothic architecture, a parish church with Baroque and Neoclassical elements, and historical traces of water use. This gives you several options when planning your visit: architectural history, the Museum of Magic and a route whose stated length includes the return journey.

Architecture from Gothic to Baroque

Casa del Lloc de Sinyent was protected as an Asset of Cultural Interest in the Monument category by Decree 15/2018 in 2018. The building is an example of civil Gothic architecture and has a 14th-century loggia. One of the ensemble’s defining buildings dates back to the early 14th century.

The Iglesia Parroquial de la Santa Cena de Nuestro Señor was built between 1720 and 1743. Its single-nave interior combines Baroque elegance with Neoclassical elements; the furnishings include murals and 18th-century Valencian tiles. Two portals are dedicated to the Eucharist and Saint Sebastian. The church also features a large altarpiece depicting the Last Supper and a three-section bell tower. Its construction dates, floor plan and furnishings offer different clues to help you understand its architecture.

Chapel, country house and traces of water

The Ermita de Sant Sebastià is a small, rectangular 16th-century chapel with a pointed barrel vault. La Casota, meanwhile, is an agricultural building from the mid-18th century, designed as a country house. These two building types offer a different perspective from the parish church: the focus here is on the chapel’s clearly defined form and the agricultural function of a country house.

At the edge of the town centre is the restored public washhouse. A former mill belonging to the Barony of Corbera originally had a 14th-century structure. Today, only the millstones and the entire network of channels and water conduits leading to the mill remain.

Magic: collection, installations and access

The Casa Museo de la Magia brings together a collection of historical objects and interactive installations. These include more than 25 installations featuring optical illusions, puzzles, challenges, impossible objects and fun photo backdrops. The museum also houses more than 1,000 historical objects. The collection and installations offer two distinct highlights: historical objects on the one hand, and playful illusions and challenges on the other.

Ruta dels Assuts and festival calendar

The Ruta dels Assuts starts at the pedestrian bridge beside the Camí de la Mota, between Ronda Joan Fuster and Carrer Sant Josep in Polinyà de Xúquer. The route is 16 kilometres long, including the return journey. Plan for the full distance. Conditions at the starting point may change, so check the departure point before setting off.

Polinyà de Xúquer’s festival calendar centres mainly on the Festes d’Agost. If you would like to plan your stay around them, check the dates in advance. The Ullals de la Font are also among the municipality’s places of tourist interest, adding another named site to the architectural and museum highlights.
