El Perelló lies entirely within La Albufera Nature Park. The town combines a long beach with nautical activities, a cycling route and notable landmarks from its history. When planning your trip, it is worth keeping the different highlights and their respective conditions in mind.

Beach and Water Sports

Playa El Perelló is 850 metres long and an average of 25 metres wide. Moderate waves, shallow water and golden sand characterise the beach. Activities available there include windsurfing, flysurfing, kite flying, fishing and beach volleyball. Playa offers various reasons to spend time by the water, from sports to a more relaxing day at the beach.

Facilities and services at Playa include lifeguards, first aid, bathing assistance for people with disabilities, public toilets, sports facilities, jetties and children's play areas. As visitor services may change seasonally, check the current conditions before your trip.

Nautical Activities and Cycling Tours

Club Náutico El Perelló is on the right bank of the channel connecting the sea with La Albufera. It has around fifty public moorings and is particularly suitable for leisure boats with a shallow draught. If you are planning a nautical activity, confirm mooring availability and operating conditions directly. The club also has a sailing school and a ramp that provides easy access to the water. Courses and timetables may vary and should be checked in advance.

At Portet de El Perelló, activities include boat trips, rental of traditional Albufera boats, guided and unguided kayak trips, and bicycle hire with a cycling tour. Check in advance which operators and activities are available. This will help you distinguish between a boat trip, a kayak tour and an on-land activity when planning, rather than treating different offerings as interchangeable.

For cycling, the 14-kilometre Cicloruta al Filtre Verd forms a circular route through rice fields, El Perelló and Filtre Verd. You can do it independently or as a guided tour; ask Sueca's tourism services about the availability of guided tours. The circular route and its listed stops give it a different character from the activities on the water.

Nature and the Waterscape

Birdwatching is another nature-related activity in the surrounding area. The birdwatching area in Sueca's rice fields can be reached from El Perelló via the CV-500 towards Muntanyeta dels Sants. Access may be restricted during active hunting seasons. Estany de la Plana can be reached via the access road from El Perelló and is suitable for observing waterbirds. Seasonal viewing conditions and access restrictions should be taken into account there.

Les Comportes tell the story of how the waterscape has been used: they were built in the 1920s or 1930s to regulate the water level in La Albufera. Before the Pasarela was built, Les Comportes was the most-used crossing for residents of El Perelló and El Perellonet to cross the Pantano from one bank to the other. The 70-metre-long Pasarela connects El Perelló and El Perellonet.

Local History and Architecture

Portet de El Perelló was formerly known as Portet del Ravachol and was restored in 2011. Another historic landmark is Església Vella de Sant Pasqual Bailon. It was built at the end of the 19th century at the request of the summer visitors to El Perelló and consecrated on 10 August 1898. The church is dedicated to San Pascual Bailón, the town's co-patron, and is classified as a Bien de Relevancia Local (BRL).

Església Nova, built in the early 1960s, represents a different architectural style. Its design is modelled on a Valencian barraca, and it is also distinguished by its surrounding stained-glass windows. Comparing it with the older church highlights two different periods of construction and architectural styles in the town.

Festivals and Local Traditions

The Fira de la Tomaca del Perelló takes place every year and celebrates the Tomaca del Perelló. It is considered a symbol of the municipality's identity and tradition. Fallas are also part of the recurring local festivities: El Perelló has the Poble Vell and Tró i Flama commissions, which are part of the Junta Local Fallera de Sueca. Fallas week includes the Plantá, the Pasacalles, the Ofrenda and the Cremà.

The programme for the Fiestas de la Purísima includes the entry of the Moros y Cristianos. The celebration in honour of the Virgen del Carmen includes a procession at sea on the evening of 15 July, departing from Club Náutico. On the afternoon of 16 July, the image of the Virgen del Carmen is carried in a procession through El Perelló. The programme for these recurring festivals may vary from year to year.

Planning Your Journey

Playa El Perelló can be reached via the CV-500. Other access options include Metrobus line 190 and EMT line 25. Public transport routes and timetables may change, so check them again before travelling. Getting there, seasonal beach facilities and the availability of specific nautical or guided activities are separate planning considerations, and each should be taken into account according to your travel plans.
