When planning a stay in Els Rosildos, you can focus on different aspects, including hiking, cultural heritage, festive traditions and regional cuisine. Options range from a hiking route described as easy to a difficult approach to rock art. If you are looking for a hotel in Els Rosildos, you can first decide which of these themes matters most for your trip.

Hiking Trails and Route Difficulty

An October 2008 municipal tourism guide lists four signposted and officially approved hiking trails in the Serra d’en Galceran area, with varying levels of difficulty and distances. This overview provides a general guide to the trail network; check current trail conditions before setting out. The Ruta del Gravats runs one way from Serra d’en Galceran to Els Rosildos, is considered easy, and is about 6.5 kilometres long one way. For planning purposes, treat this distance as a one-way route, not a circular trail or the total distance for a return trip.

Rock Art, Settlement Remains and a Snow House

In the municipality of Serra d’en Galceran, you can visit the remains of the Iberian settlement of Els Castellars. Also within the municipality is Abric d’en Melià, a rock art site with engravings made using incision techniques. Access is difficult and suitable only for well-prepared hikers with a strong interest in rock art. If you plan to visit, check the trail conditions in advance. Els Rosildos is also home to one of the most interesting snow houses in the Comunitat Valenciana. The snow house broadens the focus beyond rock art and settlement remains to include another aspect of local cultural heritage.

Cycling and Climbing

Cyclists can ride up the Port de la Bandereta beside Els Rosildos. The climb is short but steep, and panoramic views can be enjoyed from the summit. When choosing your route, take into account both its short length and the steep ascent. As road and traffic conditions can change, it is advisable to check for current information before setting out. Climbing is also possible in the landscape around Els Rosildos. Check local route and safety conditions before climbing.

Festive Traditions and Dates

The patron saint festival in honour of San Cristóbal in Els Rosildos takes place in the last week of June. If you want to plan your trip around it, check the dates for the relevant year in advance. The festival combines religious and secular events; bull-related events, cultural activities, traditional dances and dancing also feature in local festivities. The activities may vary from year to year. The San Antonio festival includes the traditional blessing of horses and other animals, as well as the distribution of traditional “coquetes de Sant Antoni”.

Traditional Cuisine

Cuisine is also part of local tradition. Traditional dishes from Els Rosildos include roast meat with ajoaceite. Traditional sweets include “els pastissos de carabassa”, “rotllos d’aiguardent” and “rollos d’ou”.
