Benicàssim offers a range of highlights to help you plan your trip: six kilometres of sandy beach, a villa route, historic architecture and scenic viewpoints. There is also a 15-kilometre cycling route, a museum collection featuring objects from several countries, and guided tours with product tastings. If you’re looking for a hotel for your trip, these specific themes can help you tailor your stay to your interests.

Coast, Scenery and Tours

Benicàssim has six kilometres of sandy beach. The landscape also includes high mountains with views of the sea. At Els Terrers beach, you’ll find the Generalitat Valenciana sailing school, a wooden walkway and a viewpoint. As beach facilities may change, check which ones are currently available before your visit.

The Ruta cicloturística y paisajística de Benicàssim is 15 kilometres long and runs along the seafront promenades and through the town centre. Its length gives you a specific planning guide for a tour that takes in both the seafront promenades and the town centre. It’s worth checking the current route and conditions before setting out.

The Monasterio Carmelita offers a different perspective on the landscape. It is set amid the lush vegetation of the Desert de les Palmes and offers panoramic views of BenicĂ ssim. This means that, alongside the beach and promenades, vegetation and viewpoints are also options to consider when planning your trip.

Villa Route and Historic Architecture

The Ruta de las Villas takes you through an ensemble of villas dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known as the “Biarritz valenciano”. It is divided into two routes: “Infierno” and “Corte Celestial”. The route features 51 catalogued villas; 19 of them are signposted, and four buildings enjoy integral protection. These figures may vary with municipal updates.

The Torre de Sant Vicent was built between 1597 and 1599 as part of the coastal defence system of the Olla de Benicàssim, to protect against corsairs and Barbary pirates. It is one of the best-preserved historic buildings in the Comunitat Valenciana and was designated a Bien de Interés Cultural in 2001. The parish church of Santo Tomás de Villanueva was built later, between 1769 and 1776, and is one of the early examples of Neoclassical architecture in Castellón. Their different construction dates reveal two distinct periods in Benicàssim’s history.

Villa Elisa opened in 2019 after restoration and hosts a range of sociocultural activities. The programme may change, so check specific dates in advance.

Collections and Visits

The Museo Padres Carmelitas has a collection of ceramics, paintings, sculptures, goldsmiths’ work, embroidery and prints from several countries. The variety of objects offers a cultural highlight in its own right, alongside the villas and historic buildings.

Bodegas y Destilerías Carmelitano offers guided tours of its production facilities; the visit includes a tasting of representative products. As the tour offering may change, it’s advisable to confirm the tour and tasting before making plans. In Benicàssim, architecture, scenery and a visit offering insight into production followed by a tasting cater to a range of travel interests.
