Discover Quatretondeta
Accommodation in Quatretondeta
Quatretondeta lies at the foot of the Serrella, amid olive and almond groves and the mountain range’s limestone cliffs. The rock formations known as Frares or Frailes are located in the Sierra de la Serrella, are visible from the town centre and form part of the karst landscape. Their visibility links the townscape to the karst landscape and highlights the contrast between the built-up area and the striking mountain backdrop. In addition to hiking, a stay may include visits to individual natural and cultural sites, as well as sampling local specialities.
Hiking in the Serrella
The PR-CV 24 hiking trail starts on Avda. del PaĂs ValenciĂ in Quatretondeta. It runs along the foot of the spectacular rocky pinnacles known as Els Frares, through the Sierra de la Serrella, and reaches Pla de la Casa at 1,371 m. From there, it offers views of the Sierra de Aitana and the AixortĂ . Check trail conditions before setting out. The Frares are already visible from the town centre; the PR-CV 24 continues along the foot of the cliffs to Pla de la Casa, from where views of Aitana and AixortĂ open up.
Another option is the Sender de les Agulles de la Serrella. It starts on a paved track that climbs to the right of the Barranco de Figuerets. The route through Les Agulles provides access to Cova Foradada; access conditions may change. Check access and trail conditions before setting out.
Nature and Local History
The Carrasca de la TĂa SofĂa is a large holm oak and therefore a different natural feature from the limestone formations; it is estimated to be more than 250 years old. The parish church of Santa Ana was built between the 18th and 19th centuries; access conditions may vary. The restored Lavadero building offers hikers a place to take a short break. At Fuente de la Viñeta, there is cold water and a spot where meat can be cooked over hot coals. Check on site whether these facilities are available for use.
