Serradilla del Llano: Rivers, Nature and Festival Traditions
Accommodation in Serradilla del Llano
Serradilla del Llano brings together river landscapes, a natural swimming area, hiking stages and local festival traditions. Three distinct options shape your travel plans: spending time at La Bahera, hiking a stage or visiting during a festival. The municipality includes 11.26 hectares of the Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia Special Area of Conservation and 2.89 hectares of the Riberas de los Ríos Huebra, Yeltes, Uces y afluentes Special Area of Conservation.
Rivers and landscape
The Riberas del Río Agadón Special Area of Conservation includes the stretch of the Agadón River that flows through the municipality of Serradilla del Llano. The area watered by the Agadón and Chico de Porteros rivers, characterised by stands of oak and holm oak, is part of the El Rebollar Nature Reserve. The Agadón is therefore the focus of a river section, while the two rivers and oak stands define El Rebollar. If you are particularly interested in waterscapes, the Agadón is a specific point of reference; the oak and holm oak stands add vegetation to the picture.
La Bahera and time outdoors
The La Bahera natural swimming area covers 5,000 square metres. Its facilities include shaded picnic areas and a summer beach bar; facilities may vary seasonally. This gives the site a different focus from the river areas: here, the emphasis is on a named place and facilities for spending time outdoors. If you plan to visit the beach bar, bear in mind that it is seasonal and check the latest information before your visit.
Festival traditions
The Fiestas del Cristo take place every summer in Serradilla del Llano. The 2026 Fiestas del Cristo included a Mass in honour of Cristo de la Expiración, followed by a procession through Serradilla del Llano. The procession was accompanied by the traditional auction of the Rosca. The celebration in honour of Saint Catherine is another occasion with a clearly specified date: on 25 November 2025, it included a solemn Eucharist, a procession, an offertory and a communal meal. The dates offer different planning reference points: the season is given for the summer festival, while the Saint Catherine celebration has a specific date in November 2025.
Hiking and choosing accommodation
The stage descriptions are also distinct. The first stage of the GR-188 starts at Puente Nuevo in Serradilla del Llano. The fifth stage of the GR-10 Norte ends in Serradilla del Llano after a total of 11.9 kilometres. These are two different route descriptions: in one, the starting point is in the town; in the other, the stage ends there. Check trail conditions and signage before setting out. When looking for a hotel in Serradilla del Llano, it is therefore helpful to start by asking what brings you on your trip: a summer date for the Fiestas del Cristo calls for different planning than a hiking stage that starts or ends in town.
