Corme-Porto: Coastal Paths, Art and Cultural Events
Accommodation in Corme-Porto
When looking for a hotel in Corme-Porto, your interest in coastal paths, art or events in July may help you decide. Local places and events offer different starting points for planning your trip: from a short stretch by the sea and views at Cabo Roncudo to contemporary art and festivals.
Seafront paths and views at Cabo Roncudo
A roughly 200-metre-long promenade overlooking the sea runs from O Osmo Beach via Arnela Beach to the village of Corme. It offers a short, clearly defined stretch for a waterside walk. The PR-G 148 hiking trail starts at the waterfront promenade in O Porto de Corme. Its starting point gives you a clear landmark if you would like to include a hike in your plans.
Cabo Roncudo is located in the parish of Corme Porto. At the cape, stone benches and tables offer views of the sea, the cliffs of Cabo Roncudo, Faro Roncudo and Laxe Beach. The seating and different viewpoints make it a destination in its own right for visitors who want to take in the coastal scenery.
The lighthouse’s construction history is also part of the area’s character: Faro Roncudo was built on granite rocks in 1920. Together with the cliffs and the sea, it offers a different perspective on this stretch of coast from the promenade between O Osmo, Arnela and Corme.
Art, heritage and local culture
The Museo de Arte Contemporánea Costa da Morte houses the complete body of Julio Pujales Rivas’s paintings, as well as an extensive collection of contemporary art. The museum is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Guided group visits and school activities can be requested through Ponteceso’s e-government application process. If you are planning a group visit or school activity, check availability before your trip.
Pedra da Serpe is located near Corme-Porto. This stone cross made of granite rests on an unworked stone engraved with a snake. The monument offers a cultural and historical landmark alongside the coastal paths and art museum.
Barnacles are also part of the local identity: Punta do Roncudo is known for their quality and abundance. The Festa do Percebe do Roncudo takes place in O Porto de Corme in the first half of July; the exact date may vary from year to year. Another recurring celebration in Corme-Porto takes place on 16 July, with a mass, maritime procession, traditional dances and music. The programme may change. If you would like to plan your trip around either event, check the dates and programme in advance.
