Valveralla brings together three topics for trip planning: water skiing at Els Gorgs, architectural and local history around Sant Vicenç, and Route 127, which passes through the village.

Location and Water Skiing

Valveralla lies on the right bank of the Riera Caudet, shortly before it flows into the Fluvià. The artificial lakes of Els Gorgs de Valveralla are currently used for water skiing; the Xavi Mill water-skiing centre is based there. If water skiing is part of your travel plans, check booking and participation options separately.

Church and Local History

The present-day church of Sant Vicenç stands in the centre of Valveralla. It consists of a single nave with a barrel vault and lunettes, a flat-ended choir, and side chapels between the buttresses. The main altar features a neoclassical stucco altarpiece from the 18th century. Wood carvings depict Saint Sebastian, Saint Christopher, and the Virgin Mary. A lunette is a small vault that cuts into a larger barrel vault.

This church should be distinguished from the former church of Sant Vicenç de Valveralla. It stood about 200 metres west of Valveralla on Pedró hill, also known as Església Vella. Several Roman finds also come from the Valveralla area. Thus, the present-day church in the village centre, the site of the former church, and the Roman finds can be understood as distinct points of reference in the area’s history.

Route 127 through Valveralla

Route 127 runs from Ventalló via Vila-robau to Valveralla and through the village. A route description dated 7 April 2023 gives the distance as approximately 9.37 kilometres and the time as around 2 hours and 15 minutes for experienced hikers, excluding breaks. Distance and time answer different planning questions: the kilometre figure describes the approximate length of the route; the time applies to the stated type of hiker and excludes breaks.

According to the same description, the route is not signposted throughout. On sections where it overlaps with other routes, there are Itinerannia signposts and yellow markings. Before setting out, check current information about the route and signposting. The description also mentions a small parking area for vehicles at the entrance to Valveralla on Carrer Major; check on site whether it is available.

Rural Accommodation

Can Marisch is a 16th-century Gothic-Renaissance building and offers three independent rural accommodations: Casa Pairal, Les Corts, and Les Arcades. The three names refer to individual units, not a shared accommodation. If you are considering staying there, check current availability and booking conditions.
