Calonge: Hiking, Wine and Culture
Accommodation in Calonge
When planning your trip to Calonge, you can choose from several different themes: hiking and walking trails, wine and culture. If you’re looking for a hotel in Calonge, consider which theme you’d like to shape your stay: a hike, a wine experience or a cultural attraction. Options range from individual routes to offerings focused on history, landscapes or bookshops.
Hiking Trails and Walks
On a guided hike through the Vall dels Molins, you’ll hear about the history of its ice houses. This combines a walk through the valley with a focus on its history. If you’d like to pair some exercise with a specific local theme, the history of the ice houses is at the heart of this experience.
The Tinar basin is presented as a walking route through vineyards. The El Collet, Puigsesforques and Calonge Plain route offers a different focus: it is presented as a combination of history and nature. The themes are easy to distinguish when choosing a route: vineyards are the focus of the Tinar basin, while history and nature shape the El Collet, Puigsesforques and Calonge Plain route.
The CamĂ de ronda is presented as a seaside walking route within the municipality. There is also an underwater trail at Ses Torretes. This gives you a choice between walks on land and by the sea, and an underwater trail. Check the specific equipment and access requirements for the underwater trail in advance. Agricultural conditions at the Tinar basin vary by season; local conditions may also change on the El Collet, Puigsesforques and Calonge Plain route and the CamĂ de ronda. Check the conditions for your chosen route before setting out.
Wine: From Tastings to Tradition
At the Mas Eugeni winery, the offering includes a guided tour and a wine tasting. This is a way to discover Calonge’s connection to wine through a winery visit and tasting. The Festa del Vi Nou offers a different focus: it celebrates the first young wine of the year, with barrels carried through Calonge’s historic center to the castle. Wine is therefore both the subject of a tour and tasting and part of a tradition that unfolds in the town center.
Bookshops and the Castell
Calonge, Poble de Llibres brings together six bookshops with different specialities. The bookshop project offers its own cultural focus alongside the hiking trails and wine. The Castell de Calonge Espai Gavarres Interpretation Centre is located in the Castell de Calonge and was officially inaugurated in November 2025. If you’re planning a visit, check access arrangements separately.
Calonge and Les Gavarres
The Castell de Calonge is part of the network of access points to Les Gavarres. The cork industry is also part of the region’s history: it has shaped the identity of places such as Calonge. The Castell as a specific place and the history of the cork industry as a regional theme offer different perspectives on Calonge.
