When choosing a hotel in San Celoni, transport links, historic buildings and trails through the landscape may play different roles. First consider whether getting there or a particular cultural or nature theme will have more influence on your travel plans. Local sights and routes offer different points of focus, from specific road access and rail connections to churches and landscapes.

Getting to Sant Celoni

The main routes into Sant Celoni are the AP-7 Barcelona–La Jonquera motorway via Exit 11 and the C-35 Granollers–Hostalric road at kilometre 55. Sant Celoni station is one of the main stations on Rodalies de Catalunya’s regional R11 service. The R11 connects Barcelona with Cervera de la Marenda, passing through Girona, Figueres and Portbou. Road and rail provide different reference points for your planning: the road information names specific routes and landmarks, while the R11 places Sant Celoni on a connection with several stops. If you are travelling by train, check the timetable for your travel date.

Churches and historic buildings

Sant MartĂ de PertegĂ s was the first parish church in the Sant Celoni area, until the present-day church was built. The parish church of Sant MartĂ de Sant Celoni is a good example of Catalan Baroque architecture. The names therefore represent two different aspects of the local church history: the former parish church and the architecture of the present-day parish church.

La Rectoria Vella is a Catalan Gothic civic building arranged around a central courtyard. Temporary exhibitions are held on the ground floor, and the chapel of Sant Martí de Pertegàs stands in the garden area. The chapel of Sant Ponç recalls another historic connection: it belonged to the former Sant Nicolau leprosarium, which stood outside the city walls. The building’s design, religious history and former location outside the city walls can thus be considered as different themes for a visit.

Walking trails and landscapes

The Ronda Tordera-PertegĂ s is a 7,290-metre walking trail with a stated walking time of 146 minutes. It connects the entire perimeter of the Sant Celoni urban area with the Tordera River and crosses the Pont Trencat. By contrast, the GR-5 is defined by its stages and their locations: the tenth stage runs from Montseny to Sant Celoni, and the eleventh from Sant Celoni to Sant MartĂ de Montnegre; both pass through the municipality. The Ronda therefore has a stated distance and walking time, while the GR-5 is described by its stages and endpoints.

The starting point of the La Vall d'Olzinelles circular trail is in front of the Can Draper farmhouse. It can be reached on foot from the centre of Sant Celoni or by car. The Fuirosos Valley also offers a distinctive landscape: it is one of the best-known valleys in Montnegre and begins downstream from the village of La Batllòria. A large part of the municipality of Sant Celoni lies in the shaded valleys of Montnegre.

Les Llobateres is a restored former gravel pit within the municipality of Sant Celoni. In the Tordera alluvial plain, the site forms a riparian landscape and a place to observe aquatic flora and fauna. Alongside the named walking trails, valleys and floodplain landscapes therefore offer further themes to consider when planning your trip.
