Premià de Mar combines coastline, museums and local festivals. If you are looking for a hotel, you can plan your stay around what interests you most: the beach, culture or event dates.

Coast and beaches

The municipality has 2.5 kilometres of coastline with five beaches: Platja de Llevant, Platja de Bellamar, Pla de l'Os, Platja de la Descàrrega and Platja de Ponent. Platja de Llevant, Platja de Bellamar and one section of Platja Pla de l’Òs are lifeguarded. If lifeguarded beach areas are important to your plans, keep this distinction in mind when choosing.

Museums and buildings

The Museu de l’Estampació is the only museum in Spain specialising in textile printing. Its offerings include a permanent exhibition on textile printing, temporary exhibitions, guided tours, printing demonstrations and workshops. The museum is accessible: ramps and lifts complement tactile exhibits, Braille information packs and relief images.

The town’s architecture and history also offer points of interest. The history of the Església de Sant Cristòfol dates back to 1798, when the seafarers’ guild laid its foundation stone. Its Baroque portal features maritime and costumbrista motifs. The Casa de la Festa de Can Manent preserves all the figures from Premià de Mar’s festival procession; Can Manent is the oldest fully preserved building in the town.

Can Ferrerons is a Roman building with an octagonal floor plan and an excellent state of preservation. It is considered the only Roman building of this type currently known in Catalonia. The Museu Romà offers an immersive audiovisual experience; visits are made with an audio guide. It is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility and has ramps, lifts and a scale model for blind visitors.

Festivals and cultural events

The Festa Major de Sant Cristòfol combines a traditional local programme with numerous events. The local population takes part, and Pirates i Premianencs help bring the festival to life. At Premià de Mar’s Festa Major, a pirate invasion is staged as a special performance on the beaches around 10 July. Exact festival dates and programmes may vary.

The Festa Major d’Hivern was revived in 2006 and is associated with Carnival, traditional dances and satirical events. Rebombori is an annual festival of popular and traditional culture. It lasts three days and includes activities for all age groups; exact dates vary. ArTardor returns every year as a visual arts competition. Its categories include photography, painting and drawing, and sculpture.

Getting around and activities

Premià de Mar has a regular bus route with a night service to Barcelona, a local bus route, a taxi service and a RENFE commuter rail station. For specific connection times, it is advisable to check the current timetables. The municipal Mercat de Sant Joan has been operating since 1968 and provides another established point of reference in local life.

If you would like to explore the coast by bike, the route from El Masnou to Premià de Mar follows the seafront promenade. It offers views of the Mediterranean and runs on cycle paths that are completely separated from road traffic. Route conditions may change; check them before setting off.

Cercleaventura-Premia offers outdoor sports and leisure activities throughout the year, either at sea or in the mountains. The Club de Rem de Premià focuses on fixed-seat rowing, including in the Catalan Llagut and the Batel. Visitors can try rowing for free; contacting the club in advance may be advisable. This makes it possible to choose different focuses for your stay, from art and festivals to activities on the water.
