San Isidro offers travellers several distinct points of interest: the architectural history of the Ermita de San Isidro Labrador, the traditional Romería and the Montañas de Ifara y Los Riscos Natural Monument. Those interested in cultural heritage will find specific architectural features and a festive tradition here; nature is also part of the destination’s character.

The Ermita and its architecture

The Ermita de San Isidro Labrador was built in the second half of the 17th century. It is a single-nave chapel with an east-facing chancel; the sacristy is attached to the south side. Its construction period, basic layout and orientation provide a clear framework for understanding the religious building in its historical and geographical context.

The term “single-nave” describes the layout of the interior: the building is centred on a main nave. The orientation of the chancel and the location of the sacristy, by contrast, indicate the position of individual structural elements. Together, these details offer more than a simple date: they give a concrete sense of the chapel’s layout without reducing its construction period and architecture to the same feature.

Romería and Día de las Tradiciones

The traditional Romería of San Isidro honours San Isidro Labrador and Santa María de la Cabeza. Its exact dates vary from year to year. In 2023 and 2025, the Día de las Tradiciones took place in Plaza de la Cultura in San Isidro, each time as part of the celebrations in honour of San Isidro Labrador. The patron saint festivities and the editions of the Día de las Tradiciones held in those specific years can therefore be distinguished as separate occasions.

The Día de las Tradiciones includes a craft fair. Offerings at the 2025 edition ranged from handmade pastries and honey to products made from recycled materials, basketry and blacksmithing. Zurrones, crochet work, toys, pyrography and handmade sweets were also featured. The selection brings together food and a variety of crafts, giving the festival a tangible glimpse of traditional and creative work.

The 2025 edition also featured a food workshop on local products, focusing on potatoes. Alongside crafts and culinary offerings, the programme thus also highlighted typical produce.

Public spaces at the SIEC

The Centro Multifuncional San Isidro Espacio Cívico, or SIEC for short, has three training rooms and an auditorium. These spaces are available to the public on request. If you plan to use one, you will need to submit a request; public use is subject to this requirement.

Natural monument and geographical setting

The Montañas de Ifara y Los Riscos Natural Monument lies east of the hamlet of San Isidro, beside the TF-1 motorway. It adds a distinct natural dimension to the cultural and festive themes. This description clearly locates the protected area without extending its geographical relationship beyond the hamlet and the TF-1.

Choose a travel period that suits you

The occasion is key when planning your trip: the Ermita’s architectural history offers a cultural and historical focus, while a trip centred on the Romería depends on its specific dates. As the Romería dates vary from year to year, check the date of the edition you wish to attend before making plans. It is also worth checking the planned dates for the relevant Día de las Tradiciones. This way, you can choose your travel period to suit your interests without conflating San Isidro’s different cultural points of reference.
