Las Galletas reveals its coastal character not only at the beach: its harbour, fishing industry and local festival tradition complement Playa de Las Galletas. When choosing a destination, you can therefore consider the beach and water activities as well as the local cuisine and history.

Beach and Coastal Scenery

Playa de Las Galletas combines rounded stones with fine dark sand. The sea there has no waves or only very light waves; conditions depend on the daily weather. You can reach the beach on foot or by car. The Paseo marítimo de Las Galletas also provides access to the local beach with black volcanic sand.

Marina and Water Activities

Marina del Sur is a sports marina in Las Galletas. It is open to the public; visitors can visit and use its facilities and services. The marina lists diving, marine mammal-watching trips, excursions, private boat tours, jet skiing, fishing and sailing schools among its nautical and leisure activities.

At Puerto Deportivo Pesquero Las Galletas, local boat-rental companies offer motorboats and sailing boats, with or without a skipper. Rental periods range from a few hours to several weeks. This lets you compare the options by boat type, whether you want a skipper, and the time frame. Jet ski companies at the harbour offer coastal rides lasting from 40 minutes to several hours. There are also deep-sea fishing and big-game fishing trips, as well as sailing schools with courses to learn to sail. Trips to observe marine mammals are also offered from the harbour.

Dive Center Tenerife in Las Galletas offers PADI diving, PADI TecRec, PADI snorkelling and PADI First Aid – EFR. The local range of activities thus includes both water-based activities and diving and snorkelling.

Fishing and Local Cuisine

Fishermen work at the landing stage near Playa de Las Galletas. Visitors can buy fresh fish at the Lonja de Pescado near the beach. The Paseo marítimo also has several restaurants specialising in fresh fish. Fishing, shopping and dining offer different ways to explore the local fish cuisine.

Festivals and History

Las Galletas celebrates the Fiestas in honour of San Casiano with festive, entertaining and religious activities. The Fiestas conclude with a typical lunch of fresh fish and potatoes, popularly known as “Gran Papada”. Cuisine is therefore part of the celebrations too: the lunch combines the ingredients mentioned with a local tradition.

There is a chapel in Las Galletas. San Casiano is the patron saint of Las Galletas; the chapel was blessed in 1932. This historical detail adds a connection to local religious history to the picture of the Fiestas.

Protected Natural Area

In the Las Galletas–Costa del Silencio area, Malpaís de Rasca is a protected natural area. The regional picture therefore includes a protected natural landscape as well as the beach and harbour.
