La Guancha brings together several travel interests: a natural cove, a pine forest for recreation, historic streets, as well as crafts, a market and wine-related activities. If you are looking for a hotel in La Guancha, your travel plans can help you decide what to focus on: are you most interested in the coast and snorkelling, local history and crafts, or would you like to include a bike ride? The places and activities each have their own character and offer concrete ways to plan your stay around your interests.

Coastal scenery, views and pine forest

Charco del Viento is a small natural cove formed by two lava flows. Its waters are sheltered from the strong surf in the surrounding area. You can snorkel in the calm, crystal-clear water, and fishing is also possible in the sheltered waters. Snorkelling and fishing are two different ways to enjoy this coastal spot.

From Mirador El Topete, you can see Mount Teide and the north of Tenerife. Parque Recreativo El Pinalete offers something different: it is a family recreation area in La Guancha’s pine forest. Facilities include barbecue areas, tables with benches and drinking water. The views, coast and pine forest recreation appeal to different interests, which you can take into account when planning your trip.

Local history and Canarian crafts

Barrio de Santa Catalina is the oldest settlement in La Guancha. The town centre features a network of narrow, old streets. Some are paved, including El Sol, Juan Luis Reyes, Nueva and El Calvario. These street names bring the historic character of the area to life. Iglesia Dulce Nombre de Jesús is also part of the town’s history: its origins date back to 1579.

Centro Cultural Unión y Fraternidad is also known as Casino de La Guancha. Its façade features typical Canarian balconies. The venue hosts numerous cultural and entertainment events throughout the year.

Centro de ArtesanĂa is open to the public; opening hours are 09:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 19:00. Examples of items made and displayed there include pottery, raffia work, basketry, openwork embroidery, weaving and embroidery. Traditional, everyday and carnival clothing is also made and exhibited. If you plan your visit in advance, check the opening hours beforehand.

Market and wine-related activities

The Mercado del Agricultor offers produce grown in La Guancha: Papa bonita potatoes, bananas, peaches, grapes, papayas, corn and garden vegetables. At weekends, the market also welcomes visitors from other municipalities. Alongside the historic town centre, local produce is another distinct focus to consider for your stay.

Consejo Regulador Ycoden Daute Isora has tasting rooms and regularly organises wine-related seminars and courses. If you would like to plan your stay around a particular course, check the date in advance.

Cycling routes and connections

Four cycling routes start at Casa de la Pradera. One circular route is called Casa de la Pradera–Icod el Alto–Casa de la Pradera and leads to the areas known as Fuente de el Barco and Los Campeches. These named starting and ending points give you a concrete reference if you would like to explore La Guancha by bike.

Several TITSA bus routes connect La Guancha with northern Tenerife and the metropolitan area. If you plan to travel by bus, check the timetable for your travel dates. This lets you include the connection in your plans without having to focus your whole trip on just one kind of activity.
