Tenteniguada offers several themes to help you plan your trip: hiking trails towards the Caldera de Los Marteles, geological formations, groups of trees and traditional architecture. When looking for a hotel in Tenteniguada, you can first decide whether nature, outdoor activities, the townscape or a festival should shape your stay.

Landscape and Nature

The Roques de Tenteniguada are among the spectacular geological features of great scientific, educational and scenic value. Their striking rock formations appeal to visitors with an interest in both landscapes and geology.

The Tenteniguada palm grove lies at an altitude of around 700 metres and consists of small groves with wild olive trees, eucalyptus trees and almond trees. The endemic blue tajinaste also grows in the Los Marteles Special Nature Reserve.

Hiking Trails and Landmarks

The Tajinaste–Pasadera circular hike leads from Rincón de Tenteniguada to the base of the Caldera de Los Marteles and back to Rincón via Pasadera. The hiking trail to the Caldera also starts in Rincón and follows the Tajinaste route towards the Caldera. This describes both the circular route and the direction of the trail to the Caldera.

The Camino de Los Alfaques is 2.9 kilometres long and has an estimated duration of three hours; its technical difficulty is low. The meeting point for this trail is at 9:00 a.m. at the Tenteniguada cemetery. The duration is an estimate, while the technical rating offers a separate guide to the tour.

From the upper section of the trail to the Caldera de Los Marteles, you can enjoy views of northwestern Gran Canaria and the mountain range around the Caldera de Tenteniguada. The trail descriptions therefore provide specific landscape landmarks in addition to the stated distances and times.

Architecture and Historic Trails

The Callejones del Cuerno are a lovely place for a stroll, where you can admire houses built in the traditional Canarian style. The Iglesia de San Juan Bautista adds another architectural example to the townscape: it was built in the traditional Canarian style at the beginning of the 20th century. The lanes and the church showcase this style in two different types of building.

The historic use of the landscape is also part of the area’s story. A royal road was used for transhumance and connected the highlands with the Caldera de Tenteniguada and the Caldera de Los Marteles. Transhumance refers to the seasonal movement of livestock; the road served as a practical link between these landscapes.

DĂa del Turista and Local Cuisine

The DĂa del Turista in Tenteniguada is part of the Ruta del Almendrero en Flor and has been held since 2012. If you want to plan your trip around the festival, check the dates for the relevant edition. At the 2025 edition, visitors could sample potaje de berros, roast pork, garbanzada, carnival tortillas and bread with chorizo.
