Cala En Bosch: Beach, Marina and Coastal Trails
Accommodation in Cala En Bosch
Cala En Bosch brings together a beach, marina and the route of the Camí de Cavalls. This means trip planning can focus on a range of coastal experiences: a beach stay, water sports, boat trips or a section of the coastal trail. The following local features can help you get your bearings.
Beach and Bay
Cala en Bosch beach lies between Marina de Cala en Bosch and Punta de sa Guarda. It has white sand and measures about 80 metres in length and 80 metres in width. Cala en Bosch is a U-shaped bay with low, rugged cliffs and calm water; at the beach itself, the water is shallow and crystal-clear. Locally, the beach is also known as Fil de Ferro Beach: this is where the underwater cable connecting Menorca and Mallorca comes ashore.
Beach facilities are available only during the tourist season. A lifeguard service operates at the beach, and its availability may vary seasonally. A marked area is designated for water activities, where stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking are possible.
Marina and Boat Trips
Marina de Cala'n Bosch is on Menorca’s southwest coast and has 270 berths. It is next to Cabo d'Artrutx, at the entrance to the unspoilt coves of the south coast. In summer, boats depart from the marina on trips to coves in southern Menorca. Timetables and operators may change, so check the specific dates before making plans.
The Camí de Cavalls
The Camí de Cavalls passes through Cala en Bosch. The stage from Cap d'Artrutx to Cala en Turqueta is 13 kilometres long, is almost flat and offers a walk by the sea. After 3.8 kilometres and crossing Platja de Son Xoriguer, the trail leaves the developed area and enters a Natura 2000 site. The route also passes the 17th-century watchtower of sa Talaia d'Artrutx.
On the coastal route, you reach the coves of Son Xoriguer a few minutes after Cala en Bosch. Nearby Son Xoriguer marks the end of Ciutadella’s developed coastline; beyond it begins a wilder, less developed stretch of coast. The route therefore also offers a clear point of reference for travellers wishing to understand the transition between developed coastline and less developed terrain.
More Leisure Activities in Ciutadella
Aquarock is a water park in Ciutadella de Menorca next to Cala en Bosch; its facilities include a wave pool. Kartingrock is a go-kart track, also next to Cala en Bosch in Ciutadella de Menorca. Aquarock’s seasonal operating schedule and attractions may change, as may Kartingrock’s opening periods. Before visiting, check whether the facility you want to visit is open during your travel dates.
Getting to the Beach
Cala en Bosch beach is accessible from Ciutadella via the signposted road towards Cala en Bosch; parking is available. The beach can also be reached by public transport. If you choose this option, check current connections and timetables before travelling, as routes and times may change.
