Cultural heritage and local cuisine
In Serrapio stands the Iglesia de San Vicente de Serrapio, which is designated a Bien de InterĂ©s Cultural (BIC); it was designated on 15 November 1983. The historic VĂa de La Carisa is also designated a BIC. Industrial history is reflected in the headframe of the Pozo San Fernando, a distinctive feature of industrial heritage alongside the recreation area there. From OrillĂ©s, you can reach the Pozo by following the PR-AS 205 trail in about 20 minutes, on foot only.
CIVICA has a children’s area where younger visitors can become archaeologists for a day. Check access and the visitor programme before travelling.
PanchĂłn, a typical dessert from Aller, is among the local culinary traditions. It is made with flour from the Escanda spelt variety, lard and sugar. To make the Pancha, the dough is shaped into a round, wrapped in cabbage leaves, covered with ash and embers, and baked. It is then crumbled and mixed with lard and sugar.
