If you are weighing up hiking trails and historic sites when planning your trip, Buesa offers specific points of interest: the GR 15 features prominently in the route description, while the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Bun, the church and the pilgrimage add cultural aspects.

The GR 15: Valleys, Slopes and Forest

The Fanlo–Buesa–Broto stage of the GR 15 is listed by the Government of Aragon as a Sendero Turístico de Aragón. On its way towards Buesa and Broto, the GR 15 links the Vió/Ballibió Valley with the Broto Valley. The route follows an old path along the right bank of the Barranco Chate and crosses the southern slopes of the Sierra, crowned by Punta Trallata or Pueyo Ballarín.

Along the GR 15, the forest includes beech trees, various broadleaf trees, firs, holly, pines and oaks. The mix of deciduous and coniferous trees adds a concrete impression of the vegetation along the route to the information about its valleys and slopes.

The descent from Buesa to Broto follows a traditional footpath that crosses the road in places. Bear these road crossings in mind if you are including this particular section in your hiking plans.

Historic Sites and the Path to the Hermitage

Near Buesa, the GR 15 leads to the Bordas de San Esteban, a former settlement, and Fuente Baño, a healing spring that was once very well known and heavily visited. The two sites bring different historical themes to the route: the Bordas are a former settlement, while Fuente Baño is notable for the spring’s former renown.

The Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Bun is a small rectangular building made of sandstone masonry, partly covered in plaster. It is situated in an area with scattered bordas. The footpath to the hermitage starts at the end of Barrio de la Iglesia and takes about an hour; it involves a steep climb. This information can help you assess the walk as a separate part of your day’s plans.

Church and Pilgrimage

The church in Buesa preserves a Romanesque chrismon and folk paintings inside. Another local tradition is the pilgrimage to the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Bun: it takes place on 2 July and is attended by residents of Buesa and Sarvisé. The set date gives the pilgrimage a specific reference point if you wish to plan your trip around this tradition.

The Chate River Landscape

The Barranco El Chate is a riverside attraction in the municipality of Broto. Near the “El Chate” holiday centre, there is a widened area where you can park; from there, a turn-off to the right leads down to the river. Check seasonal access conditions before your visit and before relying on these directions.

A natural pool on the Chate River lies hidden among meadows and forests and can be reached on an easy bike ride. If you plan this ride, check local seasonal conditions.
