Gavin offers a range of options for planning your trip: routes between Biescas and GavĂn, Romanesque buildings, and cycling activities. The routes described can be distinguished by their course, walking time and difficulty; the buildings are also characterized by their historical period.

Hiking between Biescas and GavĂn

The Biescas–Gavín trail is described as a short circular route and is accessible to all audiences. The path from Biescas to Gavín takes around 45 minutes to walk. This is an approximate time. As trail conditions can change, it is worth checking the current conditions before setting out so you can plan your trip accordingly.

South of Biescas, the route passes through cultivated fields and fenced meadows on the alluvial fan of the Sía River or stream; red-and-white GR markers indicate the way. The GR 15 connects Yésero with Gavín and then follows the Gállego. It leads through fertile fields to the center of Biescas. This means the route information can be understood not only in terms of walking time, but also by its course and landscape.

Romanesque Buildings and History

The hermitage of San Bartolomé de Gavín is one of the Romanesque churches on the Serrablo route. It was built at the beginning of the 10th century and is the oldest of the group of Serrablo churches.

The monastery of San Pelay is located near GavĂn. It dates from the 11th century and was rediscovered in the 1990s. The complex includes a three-nave church with a crypt, an adjoining church, a square tower and several monastic buildings. There is also a necropolis and the remains of the associated settlement.

The path from GavĂn to the monastery of San Pelay is short and accessible to all audiences. In chronological terms, the hermitage from the early 10th century and the monastery from the 11th century date from two consecutive centuries.

Bike Park and Mountain Biking Route

The Bike Park de GavĂn has three downhill trails graded blue, red and black. Each has 300 meters of negative elevation gain. The trails are therefore graded by difficulty, while the stated negative elevation gain is the same for all three.

The Serrato Cuchiecho mountain biking route has a different profile: much of it follows a variety of paths through meadows and forests. Technically and physically, the route is very difficult. Unlike the bike park, its difficulty is not graded across several downhill trails, but described for the route as a whole.

Sporting Event in GavĂn

GavĂn is the venue for the Crestas del Infierno running and mountain biking event.
