Islantilla: Beach, Golf and Film
Accommodation in Islantilla
Islantilla between the Atlantic and activities
Islantilla brings together an Atlantic beach, a golf course, trails and a film festival. These travel interests may carry different weight when choosing a hotel for your stay: perhaps the coast is your priority, perhaps a round of golf, a particular trail or a cultural event. When looking for hotels in Islantilla, first consider which of these sides of the destination matters most for your trip.
Beach and pedestrian promenade
Playa de Islantilla stretches for 1,400 metres, has fine white sand and faces the open Atlantic Ocean. It is easy to reach on foot. Alongside the beach runs a 1,400-metre pedestrian promenade with 16 beach access points. Visitor facilities at the beach include boat hire, a yacht club, showers and foot showers, a tourist information office, a cleaning service, a sports area and a children’s area. These visitor facilities may vary seasonally.
Trails and golf
Two different formats are available for comparing trails. Sendero Azul Parque de los Cabezos is a circular route of about 3 kilometres with a moderate difficulty level. It offers sea views, viewpoints, a lake with a geyser and native vegetation. Sendero Avenida Río Frío, by contrast, is a linear trail of about 2.5 kilometres that is easy to walk. Shade, benches and urban vegetation characterise this route. The trails therefore differ not only in approximate length but also in format and stated difficulty: a circular route with a moderate difficulty level versus a linear, easy-to-walk route.
Campo de Golf de Islantilla lies among pine forests and gentle hills, with views stretching out to the Atlantic. The course has 27 holes and three 9-hole loops, which can be combined to create three 18-hole courses with different difficulty levels. For golf enthusiasts, both the landscape and the flexible course combinations are features of what is on offer.
More activities at Parque El Camaleón
Parque El Camaleón has a zip line and a running course, and also includes a 3D nature trail. The park therefore offers several named facilities: the running course, the zip line and the nature trail.
Film festival and film tribute
The Festival Internacional de Cine Bajo la Luna de Islantilla has been running since 2008. It screens feature films and short films produced around the world at open-air screenings held over two months. Festival activities take place in July and August. Film culture is also reflected in a promenade dedicated to the most outstanding figures in the world of cinema.
For timing purposes, beach facilities and the festival should be considered separately: visitor facilities at the beach may vary seasonally, while festival activities take place in July and August. If either is a key part of your stay, check the relevant beach facilities or event dates before travelling.
